I need custom grips for my Ruger Super Redhawk .44. Any suggestions?

Hey guys:

I'm located in the Chicago Suburbs, and I am looking for reccommendations for a place where I can get custom made grips for my Ruger Super Redhawk .44. I just bought it cause I couldn't pass up the deal (it was my birthday last Thursday!), and the grips are too small for my hands.

Does anyone know of any places where I can go to and physically try out several different types of grips before they custom make one for my gun?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Erick

The Ruger grips are pretty good. I've tried others and found them inferior to the factory product.

I've heard good things about Hogue's grips, but I've never tried their Super RedHawk offering. Had good luck with some of their other stuff though. Check out Hogue's grips and if you don't like them you can branch out--I think they're your best bet.

I'm getting a SuperRedhawk .44 early in 2005 and will be using a HOGUE grip because it fits MY hand.
If you have medium-to-large hands, another brand may feel better to you, or maybe the HOGUE will work just fine.
I put Hogue's on almost everything I like to shoot, if that tells you anything! :)

Get a set of hard material grips, wood or plastic, from ebay or something. Get a can of bondo from the auto parts store, mask anywhere it might get on your gun and coat them heavily. File, sand and sculpt until you like them, If you screw it up coat them up again and do it over. The whole operation will cost you the grips and $10. When you get what you want paint them with your choice of color and rock on, or send them to a custom grip maker with a small fortune and have them duplicated in the material of your choice.

Eagle Grips is in the Chicagoland area, and would be about your only option to go try different grips out.

You must have some monster big mitts to feel the stock grips are too small. there isn't much if anything out there bigger......
