I need a new 45

I have 4 9mm guns and only 1 45acp (Colt 1911 Government model). So, I have decided to part with one of my 9mm's to get another 45. I shoot the 45 better anyway so it only makes sense. Per agreement with my wife, I have to sell one of my guns in order to buy another one. I am either going to sell my 9mm Walther PPQ M1 and get one of the new Walther PPQ 45acp's or I will keep the 9mm PPQ and sell one of my other 9's to get something like an M&P, Glock 21, Sig 320, etc. For the sake of diversity, having 2 PPQ's is not one of the options and I want a striker fired 45. Several of the 9's I am considering parting with are Sig 226, Springfield 1911 Loaded Target.

What say you?

Hmm tough choices.

I have not tried the PPQ 45 yet but on Walther forum those that have the PPQ 45 are giving it great reports and saying it is very similar in handling and shooting as the PPQ though with the button release. So very likely if you like shooting your PPQ 9MM you may very well like shooting the PPQ 45 just about the same.

If it was myself a lot would have to do with how I like the 9MMs that I already have and if there is one that I like only so so then I would probable sell that one to get a new SF 45. If you really like them all a lot I would consider seeing if there was a way to keep them and somehow still get the new SF 45. If that is not possible I would probably sell the one I could replace the easiest down the road once opportunity allows again. Myself I would not for instance sell my German P228 that is in excellent condition because it would be difficult to replace if I had the means to again and the prices on them are getting crazy. Most poly frame SF pistols will be readily available just about any time other than another major gun buying panic.

Good luck.

You can get any Gen4 Glock 21 except mine! Fantastic pistol, you should experiment with the backstraps that come in the box. Trust me when I say that it shoots every variety of factory ammo including the cheap beer can and trash can ammo, beautifully. Talk to wifey & find out what you can part with instead of the aforementioned 9mm's, you really don't want to give these up!

It is an unacceptable violation to part with a P228! I sold off my first one when I went through the big "D" 7 yrs. ago, and that's all I need to say 'bout that! Took me 4 years to find one for less than "crack-smoker" prices, it was $495.00, and my first one was $450.00 almost 15 years earlier. This 2nd one actually shoots better with a nicer DA and SA trigger, the cosmetics are just a tad rougher but I wouldn't reblue that purple slide, or change those stacked-dot sights for anything. Now I have the M11-A1 to keep the P228 company, and that is an excellent gun also!

Sell the 9mm that you like the least..../ I'd sell the Glock...but its what you like the least, not what I dislike...

"A deal with the current wife or for a new more understanding wife? "

Well, I originally wrote find a new wife, but before I hit the 'submit' button I changed it. :D

I'd make a deal like for every pair of shoes she buys, I get to buy a gun. :)

"I'll give up getting the new gun if you give up those d@mn Longaberger baskets", that line almost worked!

Sigarms228, Sounds like Im not the only one to use the "No sweetie, I have had that one for years" line...

Yes! She knows only I have a Glock 19. Some of my Glock 19s. ;) Then again all her purses look the same to me.

Sorry for the thread drift GregInAtl.

The first thing is to get a new wife and then you don't need to get rid of any. But as to the new .45, take a look at the CZ 97B.
After that you will need a lot of other CZ's :D

Sell the one you least the like and also factor in what is the easiest to replace. For example if your P226 is a run of the mill standard version of the current railed model with an E2 grip then you could sell it today and get it back easily. If it is a vintage W. German carbon steel folded slide that makes it a horse of a different color.

I just got a P320 45 fullsized. Check out my thread about it. I like it better than the PPQ in 9mm I used to have.

He wants a striker fired 45. The 97B does not meet the criteria.

A wise man once said ( not me of course) "There is nothing more expensive than an ex-wife". Choose your directions wisely and never give the wife your password to this forum. Keep the nines and save for a .45 while you are also saving for a new pair of shoes for the boss.
