I need a bit of MAK help...

I got a chance (through a reputable aquaintance) to purchase a MAK, with 2-5 round mags, and 2-30 round mags...

question is, is $350.00 too much? he wants 400, but told me that I could get it for $350...

I haven't seen it yet, but he's reputable, and said I can shoot it first, if I want...

I'm just looking for price comparisons here...

I paid $300 back in 1992, so I don't think $350 is off base. You can get some of the Americanized clones for less, but that MAK is all import and probably has more durable parts and a better trigger.

$350 is a good/fair price for a MAK in VG condition. You will be very pleased with it. If you know you can trust the guy and he says its a solid rifle, I'd buy it.

Sounds like a good price to me. Just keep in mind it will cost 100 or so more bucks to set it up in the original AKM mode.

Radom:

How is it done. I assume you have to replace some parts with US made ones? Any kits available for such work? Finally, is it legal to do that to a post-ban MAK-90? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

You will have to change out 5 parts. Any 5 of the following will do.

Pick Five:

USA PARTS
1. 3 trigger parts = 3
2. Butt Stock = 1
3. Upper and Lower Handguard = 1
4. Gas Piston = 1
5. Mag Follower = 1
6. Mag Floorplate = 1
7. Pistol Grip = 1

On my MAK I picked #2, 3, 5, 6 and 7
