Which is the best gun for bullseye matches that fires 9mm? What's hot at Perry or at your local leg matches? Thanks, I havn't shot bullseye in years..Roy

I used a H&K P9S and now a Walther P88 successfully but the SIG P210 and SIG Sauer P226 are probably the most common nines used for serious bullseye work in Europe.

If you want to spend the money a SIG P210 is probably your best choice.

SIG P210. H&K P9S Competition (not std or Target) would be a good alternative. A Browning HP GP Comp would be a less expensive alternative, mine has been fitted with a Peter Stahl barrel to help it.

I agree that the P-210 (probably the -6 variant) is the best, but the H&K P7, at $500-$700 less is a possibility, as is the Browning Hi-Power.

I've got a CZ-85 Combat, a Browing Hi-Power, and the P-210-6, and they all shoot pretty evenly out to 20 yards, with the P-210-6 being better beyond 20, the Hi-Power next, and the CZ next.

All great guns, with the CZ and Hi-Power being much easier to use in combat type simulations (because of the US style mag releases). But with bullseye, that's not an issue.

If you can find a P-210-6 (match grade trigger) and then add the adjustable sights ($200+ from SIG), you've got a formidable gun.

Otherwise, think about a CZ-75 SA.

Sig P210 would be the first choice without a doubt.

If you can find a good one, the Swedish and Finnish Lahti pistols tend to be very accurate. They have a fixed barrel/sliding receiver arrangement with an internal recoil operated bolt. The Finnish guns are considered to be better quality than the Swedes, but both are pretty accurate. They also have decent triggers and ergonomics and are relatively heavy so they are easy to hold steady. Recoil is also minimal as a result.

Bullseye?

Which event?

there are a few types of matches- 2700, Service Pistol, Leg Matches, National Match Course (which is part of the 2700 usually), team matches.

Usually competitors use/have one of the following

.22 -Hammerli, Smith and Wesson, High Standard etc.

.45 self explanatory there

Centerfire-Any centerfire pistol that meets certain requirements (look at the NRA rules handbook for pistol).

Service Pistol M1911 or M-9 pistols only that meet CMP guidlines (find a CMP rulebook)

I would go w/ SA 1911 loaded in 9mm. Trigger job done to 1.5-2#'s, Bar-Sto barrel and Bomar adjustable sights and LOTS of ammo for practice.

For leg matches and presidents 100 match there are only 2 pistols authorized by the CMP

M1911-Any of the Models that meet G.I. specs. can have adjustable sights and must outwardly appear as a G.I. Pistol have a trigger pull weight of not less than 4# and shoot .45 ammo.

M-9 or Beretta 92 series-same rules as above in 9mm though-Most of the winners at Camp Perry used the M-9 pistol this year. And in most recent years also. The Beretta seems to be the way to go for accuracy and quick returns on the short line. especially in rapid fire course. A good built beretta will usually shoot around 2" at fifty yds. in 3 ten shot groups, with factory ammo-reloads tuned to the gun might even be better.

Sorry Kermit, but you'd be illegal (for bullseye anyway). Minimum trigger pull for "any center fire" is 3.5 pounds.
