Working on updating a 1948 22 pump rifle to 1955 standards.
The old 1948 has (4) 8-40 holes drilled and tapped in the side.
The newer 1955 has a dovetail cut on the top for tip off rings.
There is an adapter, a Weaver 48402 [side mount base gloss] that has concave radius to fit the top of the receiver. That attaches to a Weaver 49350 [1" detachable side mount rings].
Two things wrong with that:
1) I did not want to drill holes on top, and turn the old rifle into Swiss cheese.
2) That would put the scope off to the side of the rifle, and Mickey Mouse would not ever like that.
I could mill dovetails in the top of the receiver.
But this seemed like an opportunity to get the center of the scope not only over the receiver, but lower than can be done with tip off rings.
So I designed a wedge shaped Aluminum adapter to be used instead of the 48402.
It has 10-40 female threads for the attaching knurled knobs, so I had to wait for a 10-40 tap to arrive from Enco.
I filed off the sharp corners.
