I love the Ruger Single Actions........

But I'm not inexperienced with the double actions, either. Over the years I've become fond of the Smith & Wesson double actions. My J-Frames:

My K- and L-Frames:

And N-Framed .44 Magnums:

Most of these guns pictured have in excess of 10,000 rounds fired through them, yes, I keep a log book.

I judge these guns, and others, by the way they feel in my hand, and by the effect they have on the selected target. All of these have proven themselves to me on the range and/or in the field.

Still a Single Action man, though.

Oops! A K-Frame that got left out!

Bob, pretty sweet collection of handguns! But I gotta ask...Do you have any stainless, or nickel Smiths?

No. I've only owned one stainless, a Model 625 in .45 ACP. Prefer blued guns, though I had a friend who had a beauty of a nickeled Model 19 with 2 1/2" bbl. that I admired. This was my sole venture into stainless:

If for some reason you only had time to save one of the above guns, which one would it be

That's easy, the 5" Full Lug Model 29 in .44 Magnum. That would be this one:

Thank goodness I wasn't asked that of my Rugers!

The only problem with Ruger DA's is that they are not very photogenic. Strong, accurate, reliable, just not prom queen material like your S&W DA's.

I'll just be stick'n with my Ruger SA.....

I too, am a fan of the single action revolver. Love to cowboy action shoot. But I also own 3 double action revolvers and love them too...and your set, well it's just beautiful.

Super nice collection! No Model 10's??

No. I did most of my shooting testing and trying various handloads and fixed sight revolvers didn't quite fit into my shooting regime. And for the most part a .357 Magnum filled in for both .38 and .357 ammunition.

I don't call these a collection but rather an accumulation. All really bought in the name of research and experience.

Oh I see Bob. Very nice accumulation.

Shafter:

A lady once asked me if I were a collector, and I gave her the "I'm an accumulater" response. She asked me what was the difference.

My response is that "Collector" implies some order and sequence to acquisitions to fill in blanks in the collection. There was no order nor reason for my acquisitions, soley on a whim.

Everybody needs a hobby Bob...so we understand.

I'm up to about 25 S&W revolvers ( one pre model 10 ...some 18's, 19's, 27's, 28's, 29's, ....617's, 66's, 686's, 629's....and well over a dozen of mine are in .357 mag obviously...

but I recently added a new Freedom Arms ..single action ...in .357 mag, a 4 3/4" octagon barrel ...large frame ...5 shot.....and I must say, it is quite a gun! I am starting to see the attraction to single action revolers as well...
