I love my Ruger single six BUT!!!

I have a Ruger 1968 3-screw single six which I would never sale but I have to admit I enjoy shooting my semi automatics more? I know that I'm not the only one who feels that way!! What do you think?:D

I like my semi-autos but prefer guns that require a little more involvement in their operation. My single actions get used constantly while the automatics gather dust.
 
It seems like I am following newfrontier45 around ... But I just have to agree with him ....again :) . Now what's a semi-auto? ;) .... delsol, you have strayed .... Time to dig out your BP revolver have some 'real' six-shooter fun :D . I know I am about ready to get out with one of mine ... probably the Old Army ....
 
I sold my SA when I gave up comptition shooting. Really no use for it after that. My Single Six stays with me, is as enjoyable to have and use as a loyal old dog. If I could own only one gun that might be the choice.
 
I have to admit that if I was force the sale all of my guns but one, my single six would be the one that would stay right next to me. I do want to thank everyone for there opinions.
 
I really enjoy shooting my semis, but there is just something about the single six that I love. It is nothing to go and shoot a brick through it in a day, where as that doesn't happen with the semis. When I teach people to shoot, it is also the first pistol they want to shoot the majority of the time.

I think I would pick my single six hunter up first over many of my other firearms.

Earlier this week, I range tested my "Vintage" Colt Buntline. It had taken e about two years, to restore. Before I knew it, I shot about 100 rounds and that's a lot on a SA, for me. I had the range to myself and just walked along the berm, shooting the "live" clay birds. ..... ;)

I'm coming off a long string of shooting my Semi's and this was a pleasant and rewarding experience. .... :)

I have been shootin' a long time & I'm sure that I have put more rounds through a single six than all other guns combined, well except for shotguns. I shoot sporting clays & was a trap shooter for years.
 
Semi autos and revolvers both have their charms. I enjoy both and appreciate both for what they are.

I once owned a Single Six and damn I miss it. Not my favorite revolver but it was a cool gun that was fun to shoot.
 
I have one .22lr revolver, a SA style family heirloom. It's the one and only I will every own. On the other hand ALL my centerfires are revolvers. The rimfire is fun to break out for 50 or 100 rounds, love it's history but I'll take a semi for my rimfires..
 
I hope I'm not the only person who feel's the way I do? I still would like to buy a Ruger LCR 38 SP someday.
 
On a round-for-round comparative basis, my Single Six is the most accurate rimfire handgun I own and I love it. As my skill levels are still evolving, though, I use my MkII 22/45 (with optic) or S&W 617 for Steel Challenge and speed-competition events. Will I ever part with it? I've instructed my son he may claim it the day after I'm buried.

For me, as I said in an earlier post on another thread it's all about nostalgia.
Shooting a SA takes me back to an era that lets me relive how they lived one round at a time.
Yes I can empty 16 rounds of 9mm in a few seconds, but taking the time to swing open the loading gate, push a casing out, rotate the cylinder...it's like a fine cigar meant to be taken slow and enjoyed. Savored even.

This is why I asked for and got a Pietta 44 cal black powder for Christmas.
