I love my Ruger 22/45, and a question

I was upset that I only brought 200 rounds with me to the range. Thousands and thousands of rounds and I still don't tire of it.

And the question is, I recently replaced the rebound spring since the old one broke. But now, with the last round, the trigger slaps your finger. It hurts after awhile. Feels like the recoil is being transferred to the trigger.

Can't answer your question (haven't fiddled with the parts too much) but I can identify with loving the 22/45. I have the "Great Eight" and as much as I enjoy shooting and training with my others, I always end up by closing out my range trips with a couple-a-hundred rounds through it

Jesse - Definitely something wrong there. First of all, breaking a recoil spring is a very rare event. My guess is that the two events, the spring breaking and the finger slapping, are somehow connected. I would take the gun down and examine it for any suspicious things like broken/missing pins, broken/missing springs, etc. If you can't find anything obvious, I would send it to Ruger for a look-see.

On the other hand, maybe the trigger was slapping your finger simply because you didn't bring enough ammo and it was miffed that it had run out. :)

Definately the gun isn't happy with me. I've been shooting lots of 45 recently and then I stopped going to the range altogether because of lack of funds. Then I thought, "hey stupid, you've got that 22."

I don't know how the spring broke. I noticed it when I was cleaning it actually so got another one from Ruger. 2 coils from the very end broke off. I'm pretty sure I put it back together correctly. I'll break it down again and send it back if I can't find anything obvious.

thanks all, happy Easter.
