I like butts

I need some input. Bought a Turk Mauser from '35 and it has no butt pad, just wood. First of all, should I put one on there or would it decrease the value? Or should I just get one of those vest thingies? OR should I just suck it up and let the beast kick the @!#$ outta me?!?!:D

A permanent one? Usually yes, unless the rifle has already been modified, then it wouldn't matter much.

Yep, one of these two options would be good, but I like the last one.

It helps conserve ammo.:D
 
Military rifles don't usually have butt pads, only metal butt plates. If yours is plain wood, the buttplate has probably been removed. Installing a butt pad may work OK or may look like heck depending on what the stock looks like.

I would be inclined to install something, since otherwise any blow to the stock could chip or split the wood.

I have seen buttpads that slide over the back of the stock and are just held by friction. that might be right for you. I'll try to fine you a link.
 
Do Turk Mausers even have collector value!? ;)
