I've been looking at the board for about two weeks now and after reading the post in the Political section I decided to join. I am 22 years old and joining this board is the last in a long list of thing that I gave up and did. In order they are.

1. Bought myself a Bul M5 .45, before it was too late.
2. Wrote enough letters to my congress person to get a real response.
3. Quit "limp wristing".
4. Broke down and bought a case of ammo from Cheaper than Dirt.
5. Got my CC permit and a good holster.

Its not much but I'm proud of myself. My fiance and freinds think that I have gone crazy. Who cares? I am currently working on NRA and GOA memberships. Are there any other orginizations that I should join?
Oh yeah, hello and thank you in advance for answers to the stupid questions that I WILL ask.

Welcome! Glad you stopped by. Hope you stay. I think that as far as organizations go, there are still a few you left out.
1. The Libertarian Party. The nations only no compromise, no surrender political party left.
2. JPFO (Jews for the preservation of firearms ownership) while small these folks are vocal. They don't compromise either. You don't have to be Jewish to join, you only have to be a MORAL gun owner or supporter of RKBA. Note they said MORAL not law-abiding. There is a difference, and I like the word selection they use.
3. COA Citizens of America. Great group too.

I think Miss Demeanors (AKA "April") and I (AKA "Moonflower") :D can relate.
I get a lot of the eye rolling, too! Don't worry, eventually they'll get used to it and maybe in the process, you'll be able to open a few people's eyes (I haven't yet ,but I still gotta try)...If anything else, they'll just accept it and you can be "eccentric!" ;)

Congratulations on #'s 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5!

The best way to handle your fiance and friends is to take them shooting. It's addicting. I have changed a couple of minds by taking them to the range.

BTW, I'm the champion in asking "stupid questions". These guys are great. They never make you feel stupid ... unless you say you're going to vote for Al Gore or something .... then they'd try to educate you ... or call for an exorcist. :D

JCH, it's good to have you as a TFL neighbor. Congrats on the obstacles you've crossed and good luck in getting you fiance and friends hooked on the art of shooting. HEY! "ART OF SHOOTING" Do you think maybe we can get some NEA money??? Never know.

Welcome JCH! One can gain a wealth of information. There are a lot of intelligent well-informed folks here. I hope to be one of them some day. :D
As for a 45, there are a lot of fine firearms out there but this is one you’ll remember forever.
