I just need one more rifle....

I've concluded that the perfect amount of rifles to own is whatever you own at the time + 1:

When I had none, I wanted the HOWA in 30-06. When I got that I wanted the Savage Mark II 22lr. Now I really really want a Rugger 10/22FS. Is this ever gonna end? :(

I'm 49 years old and have been hunting/shooting since I was 10. I can say with all honesty it never ends.........

Thank goodness:D

it never ends, just this year, i just had to have the rem 700 in .308. got the 700, decided to do a ton of mods on it, in the middle of the all the work on it, i bought a savage thumbhole .17hmr. i am now, trying to scrounge the funds up for a 1911. currently on my gun list is , 1911,m&p . 40 sub compact, another 700 in 22-250, a s&w 6" .357, and an ar 15. in the last year i have bought 5 guns

I think what I need to do is start looking for less commonly available stuff. I think I like the hunt just as much as getting the gun.

I just got 2 within a week of each other. To be fair though, with one I was replacing the one I sold.

oh boy!!! just the guy i was looking for:D do i have a deal for you! i bet you allwase wanted a 257 roberts right? in a winchester model 70? an xtr featherweight! well i might have one if those, yup i do, just for you. its mint. its 31 years old and looks like it just came from the factory. even has custom sights a scope rings and mounts i know right you need to have it:D might even post a pic

Yeah, once you get started....
I've said as I've bought each of the 19 guns I now have, "I think this is going to be my LAST one".....
Every time I do, my friends just laugh....
It doesn't end, but boy, it sure is FUN!

Hahaha that's a good conclusion RubenX,
I'm in the same "I just need one more" camp and it all started back in 74' with that first 22 rifle purchase from the paper route money :D

I, too am in the early stages of the sickness. I bought my first rifle, a Marlin 795, in December. I currently have a Savage 7mm08 on order. Haven't even payed that one off all the way and I am already looking at the next one - I'm thinking of something in between the .22 and the 7mm08... maybe a .243. Probably won't buy another for a while (my couch is not that comfortable for sleeping), but I am defintely hooked.

Yes it can end,,, find a woman that likes to spend so much money that your home is mortgaged 3 times has more cats than the local animal shelter looks like Sandra Bullock and hates guns.
That should work.
Luckily mine has cats but loves guns.

Once you get the bug its hard to stop how ever think of it as an investment.
I know a few people who put all their money in the stock market and for the most part have seen their retirement disappear. I don't think any of my firearms have gone down in value and the bonus is I get to enjoy them :):):)
I have 3 types of guns
1 shooters
2 collectors
3 traders

Never ends. I always need just one more which currently has expanded to:
Another .45 semi
A tactical 12 gauge
And would love M1A
Oh and a 17 hmr
Oh and an O/U 20 gauge.

The desire for firearms does not end for many of us. However, at some point in our lives we realize it is probably better to sell some of our firearms for their fair market value rather than pass them on to a spouse, children or grandchildren, who may dispose of them for less than fair market value. As I approach 70, this is why I intend to sell those firearms in which my heirs have expressed little interest. I have discussed, and will continue to discuss, this subject with them.

When you are sneaking guns into the house and slipping them into your safe & hoping the wife doesn't notice...you MIGHT be an NRA member ;)

If your Gun habit exceeds your drinking/smoking habit...you MIGHT be an NRA member ;)

(all apologies given to Jeff Foxworthy) :)

I quit smoking just so I could afford more ammo...:D

Is this ever gonna end?

Funny, my wife asks the same question all the time. My response is "at least I don't play golf". Her retort "Yeah but you like to fish too". My comeback "Yeah and you don't mind the dolphin, snapper, grouper, wahoo, flounder and sea bass either". Her final word "Yeah, you have a point, what's for dinner".

RubenX, you are still in the earliest stages of this malady. You will note that you have yet to start listing your +1s for different sub-groups (for example):
in bolt centerfire rifles...
in bolt rimfire rifles...
in semi centerfire rifles...
in detachable magazine bolt rifles...
in synthetic stock bolt centerfire detachable magazine medium contour barrel rifles...
in laminated thumbhole stock centerfire detachable magazine heavy varmint barreled bipod stud from the factory and recessed target crown rifles...

Just thought that in all fairness you should have a glimpse at what road you have begun traveling down...

Oh, and did I mention handguns? Shotguns?

I attempted a stop gap measure years ago. I bought a safe that is on the "medium" size and said that I had to keep my firearms in it. Surprisingly that worked for decades; bought and sold so that at the end of the day I could close the door on my safe. And then I got an incredible deal on another new safe, after all I did have a relatives hunting rifle that was taking up room in my safe, so... now I have two safes!

And I can close both doors at the end of the day; for now...
