I just held a Kahr T9

Local gun store has one and I must say that this gun is sweet! It feels as good as it looks. My only concern is the accuracy. For a single stack 9mm that big I want the thing to drive nails. If not I would rather save my money for a P7. Oh yea this thing was serial number 29, pretty cool.

I don't really get the point of this pistol, although it's a nice-looking specimen. The "T" stands for "Target," but it's a DAO pistol that's a little too small for true target work and a little too big for a Kahr.

The T also stands for Tactical, it just depends on the sights it has installed. I personally am going to get one of these for my wife's bedside gun. My P9 fits her hand nicely, but the added weight will help with the already mild recoil and the longer slide will give her a longer sight picture.

Retail from Kahr on both T's is $ 735.00. The Tactical comes with Novak nights as OEM. Pretty good sights..I believe Novak is still using Trijicon inserts. shoot well

Shmackey: I think the T-9 is geared toward the same market as the SIG 239, but for those who prefer the Kahr manual of arms. The T-9 holds 8 rounds, but is a hair shorter in overall length than the 239, a quarter of an inch less in height, a quarter of an inch less in width (.9 inches --- wow, that's thin), and a shade less in weight.

I find the T-9's grip to be more ergonomically comfortable than the 239's, reminding me a lot of the SIG 225's grip. I was exceptionally pleased with the overall comfort and balance of the T-9 I handled.

Take care. Marko

Marko:

The P239 is also more top-heavy, and will have more muzzle flip (due to the high bore axis). The P239 is thicker from the bottom of the frame (where the trigger guard meets the frame) to the top of the slide. On the other hand, my P239 .40 is more accurate than my Kahr K40. YMMV.

When you say top heavy are you referring to it's feel with or without a loaded magazine? Some of the top heavy firearms i've felt (especially polymer) balance just right when fully loaded.

thx

Krept:

Valid point, but to me, it still feels top heavy when fully loaded. You might think otherwise -- matter of taste.

Of the three 239s I've owned (2 nines, one .357sig), all were/are exceptionally accurate. I found my Kahr P9's grip to be a bit too thin and sold it before having the chance to really test its accuracy. My MK9, on the other hand, has superb accuracy for such a small gun, but still not on par with my 239s (not a fair comparison, I know). Judging by the T-9's feel in my hands, I'm anxious to try one out and see how it stacks up against the 239.

Hey Blades,

I am not sure what you are inferring, but if you are indicating that the Kahr T9 retail is twice as much as a Sig 225 retail, I might point out that according to Fjestad's Blue Book 21st edition...when the P225 was discontinued in 1998 the retail was $725 for a bottom of the line model + $105 for night sights + $45 for K-Kote or $45 for nickel slide or $70 for full nickel. So seeing as how the Kahr T9 comes with either adjustable sights or night sights standard and is already constructed out of stainless steel which is far superior to K-Kote or nickel, the retail on a comparable Sig would be $900 in 1998 plus 4 years inflation. Don't let suggested retail prices fool you. Anyone who pays retail for a gun is a fool or has more money than sense.

Does anyone know if the new pistol will fit the K9? I would be more interested in the standard size frame with the longer top end.

Actually, the SIG 225 is still readily available new-in-the-box, and versions with K-Kote and factory nightsights can be found for well under $600. I got mine last year in Western PA for $539 plus tax and NICS.

I believe the T-9 I handled was priced in the mid-$600s, (at a shop whose prices are a bit on the high side). I'm betting upper $500s will be a common price after its initial release.

Take care. Marko
