I just bought my first wheelgun today!

I ended up with a Ruger GP-100 .357 w/4" barrel with all ss finish. I think it's going to be a great gun for plinking/home defense. Also, everyone tells me that Rugers are really rugged and will probably last longer than me. That's a great feature, IMO!

Any other GP-100 owners out there? How do you like yours?

A fine handgun

I have nothing but praise for the GP-100. I have had a six-inch version for a number of years, and am considering getting a four-inch version. In fact, I have nothing but praise for all the Ruger firearms I own or friends own.

Congrats, Brudda!!! You'll love the Ruger. And you're right, it'll last longer than you will. While I have a passion for S&Ws, I still own a mess of Rugers (rifles/revolvers/autos) & shoot 'em all the time.

I OWN TWO

Great guns.

I changed the front sight blade to a Millett orange-ramp (HIGHLY RECOMMEND), and the grips are Pachmayr Decelerators (perfect for me; your results may vary).

Fits IWB; IPSC draw from (old) Ernie Hill; HKS speedloaders only.
Again, all just me.

One other little thought: LEAVE THE FRIGGIN' SPRINGS ALONE.
If you require a smoother trigger dry-fire more (PERFECT practice makes perfect), or send the gun to someone listed here: www.americanpistol.com
Trust me.

If you need any ammo or handloading suggestions just ask.

Congrats AVP

You now own a very durable, well made, and good looking gun. I think you will be very satisfied with your GP-100 for many, many years to come.

Thanks everyone!

WESHOOT2,

Thanks for the link. I tried the trigger out in the store with snap caps and thought it was ok. I'm not going to touch anything for a while, so I can allow the trigger to break in. I'll take you up on that ammo offer. What .38/.357's do you use at the range? A friend of mine is sending me some Federal .357B 125gr Hydra-Shok's. He told me to be prepared, they kick like a mule and shoot quite a flame. Sounds like it should be fun! I'll be keeping most of those for home defense.

ATTICUS,

For my next gun I'd like to get a rifle. I'm not sure what kind yet but it will be used mainly, if not always, for target shooting. That said, I'll probably go for something in .223 so it won't be too expensive in the ammo department. I didn't count out .308's I've never shot one either. I'll have to try one before I make a decision.

My next revolver? Hmmmm....I'm thinking something in a 45 ACP. S&W makes two, a 4" and a 5". Any suggestions?

Angelo

I also own two

Simply great all-purpose revolvers . . . and about the best value in the new revolver market (IMHO).

Congratulations.

GOOD STORE-BOUGHT

Try here: www.georgia-arms.com

You can try ("try", because "all guns are always different") the re-manufactured stuff for range use.
Any of their stuff is good.

For best? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ha!
