I have GOT to get me one of these!!!!

Satana, a buddy of mine has one, I got to shoot it a couple of years ago. It gives a pretty stout thump despite the muzzle brake, and the same item makes for a lot of muzzle blast. That's OK, though; if it thumps you on this end, think of what it does on the other end! It's a sweet handling little jewel.
It's really cool the way it collapses; Jim West provides a nylon guncase designed to accept the collapsed gun w/scope mounted, and it just looks like a nylon briefcase. You could walk around NYC all day with one of these in your hand and no one would give it a second glance.
If I had the $$$, I'd have one, even though I have no earthly use for one. Hell, I'd MAKE a use for it. (Hogs in the swamp, deer to 150 yds. Shucks, ya might even be able to "bark" some squirrels with it. ;))

Wow...How much was that?
I know what rifle to pick if dragons ever become a problem again.

.50cal levergun. The possibilities are endless.

Alaskan CoPilot in .50 Alaskan....$1799.00

I wonder what the ammo costs!

I used to Live in Anchorage and stopped by Wild West Guns all of the time. They've really grown up. The gun is a magnificant piece of work. For pilots who are already paying tens of thousands for their planes, the expense is not that difficult to bear. (no pun intended)

only reason I consider the .45-70 model is I though .50cal was banned or getting close to be?

I'ds love to have the cash to get one...I'd trust it to go with me everywhere...including downtown NYC. Imagine-some freakazoid lights up with a 9mil and he's behind a car....~BOOM~, and there is a big hole thru the car and the goblin! ;)

Depends on which .50 and if they will go for .50 BMG, specifically, or just bullet diameter.

.50 Alaskan is made from brass that is nicked up from another caliber and much shorter than .50 BMG. No way in hell you'd shoot a levergun in .50 BMG.

Anyone know what caliber brass .50 Alaskan is formed from?

If they go for bullet diameter, a lot of black powder users will be hurting. I'm sure it's 50 BMG they want. Heck you know how often those are used in drive by shootings and convinence store hold ups?!?

Write your reps now and voice your opposition to the banning of .50BMG. Don't just accept it as unavoidable.

That is a thinking error.

.50 Alaskan and .450 Alaskan are necked up and blown out cases. The parent brass is .348 Win. I have 100 rounds of brass and a case forming set and reloading dies for the .450 in my relaoding room. A friend of mine picked up a Browning 71 in .348 and one of these days he's going to get it rebarreled. The .450 is also very close to .450/.348 Win.

.450 Alaskan has ballistics very similar to the .458 Win Mag, in a lever gun. " More Power, ur,ur,ur"

At SHOT I observered our TFL Commander'n Chief walk up to the Wild West booth and dispite a 4 month wait - negotiate bumping him up to a Zero Wait and in doing so also got some custom extras like a beefier scope mount.
Oh - and I saw some great bullets for the .50 Alaskan - Lathed solid brass or something like that. Heavy - Nasty.

I think Rich even got a better price too - I'm not sure.

If I recall he did similar negotiations at other booths as well - dont recall what on though.

I do know that the Rich personally traded a string of beads for some island in New York... Problem is the indians wont take it back.
I suspect he had something to do with the deal for the Louisiana Purchase - but I can not confirm that. :D
