I have been looking at the VMAC line of pistols (Atlantic Firearms)

Does anyone have any experience and/or opinions with the modern Iterations of the famous MAC 10/11 pistols? I'm not expecting "tack-driving accuracy' but it cold be a fun "camp gun" and, with the proper change of barrel and stock addition be lawfully changed permanently to a pistol caliber carbine.

Thoughts?

My dad had one of the Masterpiece arms .45 pistols. I am guessing these are different manufacturers. My dad's was rrrrrreally heavy. And came with a mock surpressor/screw on handguard type thing. It was awkward and the sights were terrible, but it was cool. I guess with a actually longer barrel and a decent stock it could make a nice carbine but that wouldn't be legal as they are considered pistols. In my opinion you are much better off with a 1911 or other .45 pistol you shoot accurately. These are just too heavy and unwieldy for any practical purpose.

According to Federal Law, you can convert the M10/11 to a carbine, but not the reverse. With a 16 inch barrel and stock the pistol becomes a carbine. Once the conversion is made, it is illegal to reverse the proceedure.

Hm. IF it was accurate (3" or less groups at at 50yds) for a handy little carbine it would be sweet in .45. I wonder how easy the barrels are to replace and how available different barrels are. Total weight would probably still be about 7 pounds, then you would just be better off with a AR or synthetic stocked AK

I wouldn't want an AR-type *yawn* and already have a milled steel AK. I could buy an MPA Carbine for $816 from Masterpiece Arms themselves.

That would work.

I don't like ARs either. Let us know if you buy one of these things. The trigger system is apparently almost identical to an AR15 trigger, at least according to my dad it was, so you may have some options for upgrades their. These things are built very solid and heavy duty. They should be tough and reliable. All steel, no plastic or aluminum in there
