I have an EAA Witness 10MM, and I need some advice

My previous post returned some good advice. I have already ordered a 22lb spring, and extra mags. Here are the questions I have, hopefully some of you will be able to help. Holsters?, where can I get a decent one, for concealed carry? Next, I know the size of the Magazine, it appears it will hold more than 10 rounds. Now, just pretend someone wanted to make it hold more than 10 rounds, how would some one do that? And last, is there a place to get a match grade barrel, i noticed that in the manual, +p ammo is not advised, is that due to the barrel, or the frame on the witness.., Thanks again for all your help...

Well...

...as far as "+P" ammo in a 10mm Witness, don't worry, because there's no such thing as "+P" 10mm Auto ammo. Regarding "modifying your magazine", sorry, we can't help you commit a felony.

Holsters:

Here is what I have tried with mine:

1. Safariland 560 Paddle holster. Works well, good retention. Conceals reasonably for me under an untucked flannel shirt now that I've played with the spacers to angle the butt of the gun in to my body.

http://www.midwayusa.com was closing them out for $45 or so about a month ago.

2. El Paso Leather Ambi-cover inside the pants holster. Nice holster. Sid at El Paso said he thought the 1911 model would work for my gun. He was more or less right. I had to work the gun in and out a dozen or so times to get the fit right before it would go in far enough. Also the last 1/8" or so of the trigger guard isn't covered but the trigger is quite protected.

One caveat about these hoster recomendations: I'm 6'3" and weigh 220 with a long torso in proportion to my legs. I can get away with packing a pretty big handgun and not have it show.

Magazines:

Sorry bub. Not going to help you there. Stupid law but still the law.

Holster can be found at many places. Most CZ/beretta holsters fit the Tanfoglio. For holsters that are made to fit the Tanfoglio, look at:

http://www.blade-tech.com
http://www.gunsandgold.com

I would second loudernhel's recommendation of the Safariland holster.

You should be able to find something you like between these four.

Your 10mm mag cannot be altered. Tanfoglio makes their 10mm mags elsewhere to hold 12 rounds, but of course, here in the USA you cannot get them.

When I corresponded with EAA on the "+P," they repsonded to me by saying that it was for liability purposes. However, I would suggest that the 10mm already has enough pressure, especially when using the full power loads.

If you have questions about your pistol I would email Tanfoglio directly:

My dealings with EAA have been not good, but Tanfoglio has been very professional and curteous. Hope this helps.

Witness 10mm

Wildcard,
You might have to wait some times for answers, and sometimes people will not reply. That's the way of it here.
I have a fair amount of experience with the Witness as I have had a 45 for about 6 or seven years. In my experience the guns will not hold up to the full house loads in 10mm as they will not with factory level 45 loads. As the other writer said a "normal-not "lite"" 10mm is already +P level compared to factory 45.
I have had two slides crack at the ejection port and one frame crack from the safety hole back along the rail cut to the rear of the gun.
All that said it (long slide ajustable sight model) will put every round in the same hole at 25 yds over a rest. The hole will be 2" in diameter.
I just baby it and shoot nothing but 200 gr lead at 875 fps out of it and then only when I shoot a match requiring that level of accuracy.
So, good luck with your 10mm. Be sure to keep us informed on how it performs for you.
Oh yeah, I use a Beretta holster for mine.

I've both the full size and compact EAA 10mm. I've fired thousands of cartridges through both of them. I did upgrade to a stronger wolff spring, but all in all, it has fired every actory round I could find and fullhouse handloads without a bit of problems.

Well, I bought a Fobus paddle holster for my HK USP, and since i'm selling it, i tried my Witness in it and it fits pretty well. It clicks right in, and while i wouldn't try any upside-down jumping jacks with it, it seems to be pretty secure, and for $23 bucks, you can't really go wrong.
