I have always liked the BIG BOOM!

I am still looking for a new autopistol. I have looked at many different 45's, but my need for a bigger BOOM is drawing me towards a 10MM! I hate compact pistols because I actually have a large hand for such a small person. I can Never carry a full size concealed on body here in Florida, I do have a Galco fanny pack that hides a full size 1911 quite well though. What full size 10mm do you like? I have been teased by a pre-sellout 1076 and have considered going to the dark side and getting a GLOCK 20! What is the capacity of pre-ban FULL CAPACITY Glock 20 Mags? and do they function in new style Glock's? Availability!
Recoil in a handgun has never bothered me a whole lot save a .454 Casul or some other hand cannon like that. I have been told a 10mm in a full size gun is comparable to a .40 S&W+P load?

I am partial to the Glock 20. Pre-ban magazines hold 15 rounds and work just fine in the new models. Availability is ok - you can find them at gunshows, at topglock.com, and at glockmeister.com, but they are getting expensive.

Recoil is about as you have been told. Most factory loads are fairly mild, but if you handload (and I do) you can do some wonderful things! :)

for my heaviest loads I use a 24 lb. aftermarket recoil spring, but that is not necessary for the non-nuclear stuff.

Go for it, you'll never look back!

If you do buy a 10mm then make sure that you are buying the high performance 10mm loads. Most are now medium velocity and loaded down to .40 S&W type specs. A 10mm/.357Sig combo should be nice for you if you like big BOOMS.

If you want a big boom, get a 1911 with a .460 Rowland conversion. The compensator will give you that boom ;)

Where is my big earth shattering kaboom?
;)

Really though I have had a 1076 I had to send it back to smith a couple of times.
I would go with the glock20 It is one I don't own as I'm not a real fan of 10mm but as hot as it is I would go with a glock because even the Glock haters must admit they are tough.

Colt Delta Elite

I have only heard and read great things about the Colt Delta Elite. They are priced fairly high for one in good condition but you only live once. If you have the cash you should make that your next investment.

I have been salavating for a G20, liveing here in MA I better not hold my breath though. My buddy has a G20 and I was amazed when I shot that thing. That is alot of potent rounds in that gun, it was very accurate once I adapted to the recoil (which wasnt much to be honest). Read Ted Nugents book "God, Guns, and Rock & Roll" he talks alot about his most prized posesion, the Glock 20. I cant remember the exact specifics but he boasts about how he took an unbeleivable shot on a wild bore while on a hunting trip in Africa. It was a big bore and one shot from the G20 put him down instantly.

Also, if you are looking for a BOOM, take a look at some of the .357sigs. Personaly I have no need for one, they are too loud, rounds are expensive and muzzle flash is blinding depending on conditions. BUT,,,,,,if its a BOOOM you want this will surely fill that nook.

Good luck,
Jason

It's easy to convert G21 to .40 Super-barrel & recoil spring. Excellent gun. .460 Rowland,also easy-same same+FL guide rod.BIG boom.

Love my Delta Elite though.

If you want a true big boom and don't mind a revolver, get the Magnum Research BFR .45-70 OUCH

Other then that, the 10mm isn't going to have near the boom as a .460 Rowland :D

I'm with ArmySon: get yourself a 1911 with the .460 Rowland conversion. Johnny (Rowland) is a friend of mine, and BOOM is at the very beginning of telling the story of that cartridge!

If not an autoloader, then a .475 Linebaugh revolver might suit your taste for a handfull in a handgun. :D

Since this is in the semiauto forum, I assume you want a auto. I shot a .400 Cor-bon last Sunday. That was a pretty big boom. What about a DE in .50AE?

For the biggest, meanest, cartridge that will scare a HOT .454 Casull look up a .500 Linebaugh Maximum, after one shot you'll sell it.
