I have a problem with my recoil pad on my model 70 winchester, I got some gunscubber

Some gun scubber got on to it and now the pad is sticky, I think some kind of coating came off of it, what can I do about this? I tried a bunch of things from windex, wd-40,water to gun oil trying to get the stickness away, what can I do? winchester will not send me just the pad, they want the gun so they can replace the hole pad.

NYCOP, there is another option, one that I would choose. Replace the factory pad with a Pre-Fit Decelerator pad from Pachmyer.
 
Try some Armor-All, Tire Wet, or any of those kind of products on it. Let it soak in good before you wipe it off. You'll go from sticky to slippery, but at least the slippery will wear off.
