I hate my Glock 30

Title says it. I just fired my G30 for the first time today. I didn't like it. Not sure if it's due to my small hands or what, but I just couldn't grip it in a way that didn't scratch my hands.

The scratchy stuff on the grip wasn't pleasant. The recoil wasn't terrible, but I couldn't hit a damn thing with it. It's not my first handgun, just my first Glock.

Anyone have similar woes?

All the better for guys like me. I pick up brand new guns on the cheap all the time.

Don't like the Glock, sell it and get <fill in the blank here>. Its the free market system at work. Aint 'merica great.

Close the thread, nothing to see here citizens.

You will get used to it. If not, you probably won't lose money if you need to sell it. There are some funny videos about the Glock hurting American hands.

The G 30 is one of the most accurate Glocks. The size causes some issues for those with large hands. I have one as well as a G21. Take some time to get used to it. You have a winner.

Glocks are great guns, but the large framed versions aren't for everyone. It is hard to go wrong with the smaller G-19. If it has to be 45 ACP the G36 would have been a better fit.

If you want a .45 get a 1911. It's what the round was made for.

You'll get a better trigger and no scratchy stuff, unless you like scratchy stuff.

Get a commander size with an alloy subframe if you want to carry it, otherwise the 5" government model is hard to beat.

I have one and it is ok. I haven't pulled it out in a while but I never had any issues with it. The recoil assembly broke after a few hundred rounds but it worked fine after I replaced it. Mine is accurate but I prefer my 1911's over the G30. If I needed a good combat pistol it is probably the one I would carry.

I was originally deciding between the 1911 and the G30 when I bought the pistol.

The glock won out because it was smaller and lighter for when I eventually get my carry permit.

A buddy of mine ran a mag through it and seemed to be having good results. Just not me.

I'm used to shooting mainly 9mm DA/SA and .357 magnum.

I have to position my hand weird to reach the trigger even somewhat properly.

I have measured my trigger finger before and if I remembered right it comes in at a whopping 2.75 inches.

The one thing I can say about the Glock 30 is that I didn't have a single jam. Neither did either of my buddies and one of them has less than stellar grip technique.

Shot about 100 rounds today.

Get accustomed to the Glock trigger, I've had several 30's and just picked up a G4 30 and it will shoot golf ball sized groups all day long. I love it! The grip is a touch thick but it's easy to shoot and accurate. I'd say get used to the trigger and that will make all the difference.

I really want to like my Glock 30. It's a light gun. I can conceal it fairly well pretty easily. It holds 10 rounds of .45acp.

And my wife bought me a holster for it for Valentines day.

At what point should I just abandon trying to get used to the pistol?

I put 110 rounds through my G29sf today. Basically the same size gun, but in the more powerful 10mm. I have small hands and the sf frame helps. I also have those finger extention things on the bottom of the mags - that helps immensely. Not sure about the scratching part. That's not an issue for me.

Sorry you didn't like it. You might get used to it. Or might not.

after about 500 rounds of practicing trigger control and grip. if you can't shoot it, or just plain don't like it, sell it

Thanks. As much as I don't want to admit it, part of it might be I'm used to low recoil guns. 9mm out of a 2 pound gun and .357 out of a 6" Security Six was never much

Dry fire it and get used to shooting trigger reset with the glock. Hold your finger to the rear, cycle the slide let out to you hear the click or just passed it take up the slack and start your trigger pull 1lb at a time until you get to 5lbs and repeat. Then shoot a few boxes through it. Then if you still dont like it sell it to me cheap :D

I can say I have already dry fired it a lot. That's the first thing I do before I even put live ammo through a gun.

My sights don't move at all when I pull the trigger on an empty chamber.

That being said would glock grip angle being different effect my POI if I'm not used to it?

glock 30

What can I say? Different strokes for different folks.
I really like my gen 4 30. I have relatively small hands,
but grip is no problem, and I like the grip texture.Recoil
is no problem, and it shoots much more accurately than I do.
It's a great gun. I say give yourself more time to get used to
it,but if you can't get with it,sell it and get something else.

I tried a Glock 17 and 19, I could not get past the grip angle and palm swell.
If a Glock was my only handgun I could learn to live with it.
As for guns chambered in 45acp I prefer the 1911, but I also like the Springfield XD's.

The huge variety of guns available these days makes it totally unnecessary for someone to keep shooting a gun they hate.
