I Guess We Know Where MTV Stands on The Election

ok first......
im not one for watching MTV much(waste of time if you ask me).....but something came on last night that caught my eye......

it was a Drew Barrymore special where she was trying to get people to vote......

noble effort.....i really admire that.....im a young person and i think its good to try to get some young people out to the polls and vote.....

but wait......was it slightly biased?

when i watched the MTV Bush vs. Kerry thing they did.....it was pretty neutral.....they did a good job at keeping it that way......
and letting people make up their mind......

but this Drew Barrymore special last night.....
man......
ok the list of guest speakers included......
-Michael Moore
-Hillary Clinton
-John Stewart (of the Daily Show, known "Bush Basher")
-James Carville

and a few other less known, but still outspoken Left Wingers.......

ummmm.........
i watched it and wanted to hurl......it felt like they were telling me how to vote (like a silent whispering Left, Left and uhh LEFT).....and only put out one side of the issues......

woulda been nice to see a few republican guests on the show.....but obviously the "youth" vote means nothing to the Right Wing political party in their opinion......WHAT A JOKE!

MTV should be ashamed......as well as a few other major news shows for being so politically biased.....its a disgrace.....

scratch them from my list of things to watch......

Same old same old. Rock the vote. Nothing but an ad campaign to get kids to do the corporate bidding and run out and vote democrat.

john stewart...

john stewart, althought he is know for bashing bush... you should see how much he makes fun of kerry as well. i also think if you watch the "clinton's" and their supposed support for kerry i think you will see that they dont care about kerry but show party loyalty... thats because i think in 4 years she will ask for party loyalty when she tries to run for president.

just my 1.5 cents

in 4 years she will ask for party loyalty when she tries to run for president.
Four or eight, depending on who wins. Kerry won't step away from a second term for her no matter how much she supported him this time around. However, I agree with your astute observation - she clearly feels that Kerry is too much of a moderate centrist. Of course, everyone is a moderate centrist during election year ;)

I respect the general opinion on these boards, but I won't be voting for Bush. I had no doubts about the WMD lie in the push for war. I do not support giving carte blanche to Israel in exchange for having a stick with which to threaten OPEC. Just about the only things Bush has done which I do support have either been half-assed (saying he'll sign an AWB renewal if it comes up, but then just ignoring the issue until it dies) or badly implemented, like NASAs new mandate on the Moon and Mars (practically unfunded - NASA is having to cannibalize funding left and right). The Patriot Act was a sick joke at the expense of We the People, and the disgust I feel at the treatment of protesters in NY during the RNC knows no bounds. Dissent IS patriotic, dammit. At the same time, Kerry is a total jackass. He casually blew off my home state and his campaign stiffed UNM Cont. Ed. on the bill. He is deliberately lying about his RKBA stance to draw support from moderate republicans and he is very likely to continue the liberal globalist agenda that Clinton started. However, I intend to hold the President accountable for those actions with which I did not agree. I will not be voting for Bush and if Kerry wins, come 4 years I can tell you that I will vote against Kerry just as quickly. Someday I really hope that there will be a more reasonable choice than simply to weigh two evils against each other and try to guess which one is the lesser...

EDIT: I really should have related this better, sorry. Without knowing him personally, I can only guess that John Stewart has similar (though different) reasons for his public stance. He sure isn't above taking some hard swipes at Kerry too, so I infer that Kerry wouldn't be his first choice for President either. Privately, who knows what the man thinks?

I find it amusing that when little blondie Drew Barrymore appears on the likes of Letterman and Leno, etc, and plugs her get-out-the-vote thing, she simply presents it in neutral terms - "oh it's just about voter awareness, get out the vote, get involved" - no left or right leaning indication. Then, when it comes on MTV, it's pretty clear that it's a left-fest. Now why you ask the disparity? Methinks it's because little blondie is too feeble-minded to actually articulate and defend the liberal positions, yet she apparently still wants to promote them. Makes me wonder if she really understands the first things about the issues at hand. I'd stick knock me off a chunk, but that's another subject.
