I guess I don't count for the NSSF or IDPA

I get this in an e-mail

The International Defensive Pistol Association is partnering with National Shooting Sports Foundation (the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry) on a research project to better understand individuals’ behaviors and attitudes as they impact participation in hunting and shooting sports activities. The results of this study will help us better serve the needs and interests of hunting and shooting sports enthusiasts.

It asks me for my DOB and :

A public relations or advertising agency
A marketing or marketing research firm or department
A firearms/ammunitions manufacturer, reseller, distributer or retail sales
A hotel company
A bank or financial institution
An outdoor/sporting goods manufacturer, reseller, distributor, or retail sales
A car dealership or manufacturer of automobiles
A beverage manufacturing or distribution company
A manufacturer or distributor of pharmaceutical products
None of the above

I answer : None of the above.

So it then says: Thank you for your time.

Gee, guess I don't count has having an opinon.

I would guess the OP was sent the link to what he expected to be an on-line survey related to shooters. This question was a screener, a "are you one of the folks we really want to survey", and his answer didn't qualify. But since all of the choices were some sort of corporation or organization it doesn't look like they are actually interested in individual shooters.

My money would be on an incorrect setting by whoever set up the survey. I can see picking anything except "none of the above" would be likely to be the a better screen for the stated purpose. I actually would not be surprised to find out that no-one actually advances to the next screen or that the whole thing might be hoax/scam of some sort.

FWIW, I've been involved in survey design and conduct off and on for about 18 years.

Agreed.

Makes some sense, considering that the NSSF is a trade organization. But ... if they want to know what influences individuals, I don't know how they expect to find that out if they're not talking to individuals.

Glenn, I got the same email today. I entered "none of the above" like you did and I went into a looooong survey. I was born in 1956; I can't imagine why that would make a difference, if you were born in a different year.

You didn't miss out on anything.

My feelings are still hurt. Wah. :(:o

Hey - I tried again and got in. What a bore. Repetitive personality questions. Hope some sociologist made a good buck designing this.
