I guess Dan Wesson decided against making another revolver?

Some time ago they had a stainless revolver in 357 mag w/interchangeable barrels on their website. I was looking forward to buying one.

Now it's gone. I see a lot of comments of people (on their website) of people wanting them to reintroduce it.

I guess they scrapped the idea?

I just caught a post in another active thread right here on TFL, but don't recall which thread it was. In it, someone just very recently sent CZ-USA a note with exactly that question. Their response was vague, but hopeful. They mentioned something about a recent fire at Dan Wesson and that they were attending to that, but made no promises either way.

No manner of an "official" word, but it seems they also definitely did not say it wouldn't happen.

Except for snubs and cowboy guns what would they make one for?

And actually carry snubs are about it since re-tooling for a new gun, not to mention the design cost, R&D, testing, etc... is quite expensive and the ability to sell x number of guns at y prices makes it a gamble.

And you would be competing with S&W and to a lessor extent Taurus, Rossi, and a few other Italian companies!

They had a fire at the factory about a year ago. They had to find a new facility and only recently started production back up again.
I'm sure they have allot of production to catch up on.
And, IMO, with as difficult as it is for them to keep up with demand for their 1911's, I don't see how they can start up another product line.

I don't know if it's any sign of hope, but they do take orders on custom revolver barrels and shrouds. And specify production time about 6 weeks, which means they actually make them, not have some old stock... So at least some tools and still in use and being used actively.

Email from Dan Wesson

It may have been this email I posted:

(6/3/13) We have hopes of bringing them back, we just don’t have a prospective date. Dan Wesson had a fire back in November and just came online a month ago, so we’ve still got to get back to normal before we can think about the revolvers.

Thanks!

I saw an employment notice stating Dan Wesson was looking for a gunsmith to help operate the machines to make new revolvers.

I always liked the DW DAs with the adjustable barrels. IMHO, they the most accurate you could buy back in the 80s. I can remember some guy shooting 50 or so rounds thru one in a Ransom rest and the hole was around 2".

Last time I saw a pistol pack at a gunshow, the guy was asking 2 grand for it. I don't know whether he sold it or not, but there were people interested

Pay attention as you can still find early models made during the Wesson family days not someone else. They turn up still in new litely litely used at a price hard to pass on. Still see packs for 1000 dollars single 15-2 from 350 or 400 bucks. I picked up a .22lr version for 250 dollars last year.
