Oh yeah the video camera is coming along, gotta get some footage of the carbine. And we gonna see if we can hit the 100yard steel with the .54.
And yeah I'm praying for no rain!

Gun-cleanin' monster is the first thing i thought of when i read the whole list :D part of the joy, my dad always says.

i've been away from TFL for a while and just got caught up on some old topics, i see a lot of mentions of "Kirst" that i haven't heard of before. Is this a new company or product or have i just been oblivious?

Well Crap, I may not be taking the GPR tomorrow after all. I don't have a ramrod for the GPR (I broke the original and pulled the threads out of my aluminum one) or a .58 cleaning jag for shorty. I may make a run to sportsmans warehouse tonight and get a .58 Jag if they have one and a new ramrod (all they have is the TC short aluminum ones. I will probably get a wood dowel from lowes while I'm out, but I can't clean with that. So the GPR might have to stay home :(. TOTW here I come, I gotta get some stuff on order. No sweat though I can still blast away with the revolvers tomorrow.

Kirst Konverters. Don't know how old they are, but good line of BP cartridge converters.

Get one that's close to bore size and cut a few rings around it like a jag and it will clean very well.

You are much younger than I. Years ago I developed a rule: never clean more than two guns a day. After two, it's too much work and no longer any fun.

Still, enjoy yourself while you've got the energy.

That one is for my .36's so it's only about 10 inches long and has a round ball on the other end. Actually I chucked it up in a drill and used a file. That's it on the bottom. The top is a bought short starter and the one in the middle is a longer one I made.

The range session was a blast

Well I had to thin the B.P. heard yesterday, the ole lady wanted to take some centerfire guns. But anyway, we got out there and some doughnut head had put a 1gb memory card in the camera (read this guy) so with all the pics on there I could only get a short video of the ROA. But any way that little Hawken Carbine is a BLAST to shoot (literally). I started with 70 grains and went all the way to 110 grains (OUCH) of FFg KIK. It kicked like a mule with that stout load. It was a .570 ball with an .018 ticking patch. I ultimately settled on 80gr and was ringing an 8 inch plate at 60 yards. I didn't take any target stands ( I thought the club had them) so I wasn't able to do any groupings, but I will go back with my own stands and do some of that. I'll post up the video whenever this snail speed DSL finishes downloading it to photobucket.
