My friends and i have decided that unless your'e one of those dang varmint hunters,if you can hit a frisbee at 100 yards you are the rifle KING or Queen! (whichever may apply):D

While I tend not to take a rifle seriously if it won't group, I gotta admit that there really is something to ringing the 200-yd gong with the old milsurp rifles.

For all we know that's a flying frisbee he's hitting the edge of. Just hope he doesn't wipe out the poor sap tossing it. One should be able to engage M&Ms at 200yds. if only to win bets. Seen it done, wish I could.

How well you can group from a bench rest is only relevant for varmiting.

You need to know how well you can shoot from hunting positions, in hunting conditions (wind, dust, etc.) and with some adrenalin or fatigue in your system.

I think plinking ("recreational shooting") is a better preparation for hunting for that reason. Plinking in informal competition is probably better, because it adds some pressure to the equation.

Plink away.

"For all we know that's a flying frisbee he's hitting the edge of. "

That's true, but I don't think that that's what he meant.

How about throwing quarters? That's frisbee like.

Dang those varmint hunters!

By the way, beware of the VarmintCong.

Ya well......you haven't lived until you go up against them. Fiece, no respect for rules and quite honestly they just don't give a $$$$, well you know.
This one was taking aim at my buddies, well you know there again....they are short so elevation only makes it half way...

Well I dispatched the VarmintCong with a single .300 Win Mag :D I also believe that one round cause major catastrophic trama to about a dozen of his commerades as well

Honest, I am sane

Perhaps my rifle skills are poor

but I can't guarantee I'll hit anything smaller than a paper plate at 100 yards, standing, with iron sights, most every time.

I'm not counting on there being a shooting bench when the 37.5 point mulie-elk-moose crossbreed crosses my path at 112 yards :D

I'm with Tropical Z and Dave R on this.
