I went to my range (private-nothing but a few acres of land with berms at 25-50-100-200-300 yards and a crude metal "shack" as the "clubhouse". It does have range lights and a gate with a combination lock on it) this morning at about 0500. I like to go then because I have it all to myself, can shoot pretty much any distance I want to, drink my coffee in peace, clean my guns at my leisure, pick my brass up unhurriedly, watch the sun come up, etc, etc. This morning for the first time I had my Kimber Classic and my Browning HP .40 there together. For some reason I've never had these two out of the house at the same time. They both shot great (for me) and I really enjoyed the single action auto experience. Cocked and locked, just thumb safety off and pull trigger straigt back. For a VERY scary several moments I seriously toyed with the notion of getting rid of all my other autos, ones I spent years acquiring, testing for reliability, getting the sights right on and carrying with me everywhere it was legal to do so. This includes a Beretta, a SIG, a S&W, a Kahr, and a Glock. I've always enjoyed immensely the differences in these autos. They all have some strong points and I've carried them all with complete confidence. But it was a special feeling this morning shooting these single actions. I really felt for a while I could be happy with this style pistol to the exclusion of anything else. Man, I hope I overcome this feeling. It could cost me a fortune and cause me to get rid of pistols I'm sure I'd regret forever bidding adieu to.
