I got scared to death this morning....

I went to my range (private-nothing but a few acres of land with berms at 25-50-100-200-300 yards and a crude metal "shack" as the "clubhouse". It does have range lights and a gate with a combination lock on it) this morning at about 0500. I like to go then because I have it all to myself, can shoot pretty much any distance I want to, drink my coffee in peace, clean my guns at my leisure, pick my brass up unhurriedly, watch the sun come up, etc, etc. This morning for the first time I had my Kimber Classic and my Browning HP .40 there together. For some reason I've never had these two out of the house at the same time. They both shot great (for me) and I really enjoyed the single action auto experience. Cocked and locked, just thumb safety off and pull trigger straigt back. For a VERY scary several moments I seriously toyed with the notion of getting rid of all my other autos, ones I spent years acquiring, testing for reliability, getting the sights right on and carrying with me everywhere it was legal to do so. This includes a Beretta, a SIG, a S&W, a Kahr, and a Glock. I've always enjoyed immensely the differences in these autos. They all have some strong points and I've carried them all with complete confidence. But it was a special feeling this morning shooting these single actions. I really felt for a while I could be happy with this style pistol to the exclusion of anything else. Man, I hope I overcome this feeling. It could cost me a fortune and cause me to get rid of pistols I'm sure I'd regret forever bidding adieu to.

Sounds like JMB momnet.

1911 and BHP what more could you want? Everything else is just 'Waitin' around.'.

Remedy

Put all the other guns in the safe and use these two for the next six months. If this does not cure you, come and see me in six months ;) Don't sell your guns!

After reading your post and giving this a great amount of consideration. I have found a place in my heart and am willing
to accept any guns you dont want anymore. ONLY because I
am a person who understands your problem and am big enough
to offer my assistance :D

Shoot well

Don't listen to any of this touchy feely stuff these guys are dumpin on you. It's a sham.
I'll tell ya straight out that I want your guns. End of story.
These other guys are just tryin to make you think they've done you a favor by takin them off your hands.
Shame on you guys!!!

Weldon,

A fine sentiment, sir.

I have toyed with the idea also, having resigned myself to 1911's and clones and the P226 for the interim.

The BHP keeps calling me as the "natural selection".

It is inevitable...

Don't fight it.

We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. (Oh, wait, that's Glock)

You are not alone...

Why get rid of anything? Just get yourself another gun in SA just the way ya want it.(Custom) So what if the kids don't eat! So what if the mortgage doesn't get paid. GO FOR IT!!!

Trust me, the feeling will pass. Love is fickle when it comes to firearms. As soon as you start thinking you can live with only one thing (be it caliber, revolver, SA, DAO, etc.) some shiney new toy will catch your eye and your previous passion/logic will be but a faint memory.

Keep the stable. Variety is definitely the spice...

I've started program called Adopt-A-Gun here in the Northwest. We provide nice homes where they will be fed, cleaned, and loved by their new owners. We understand that this is a very emotional time for all so visitations are allowed and even encouraged. For further information call 1-800-MAK-EMY-DAYY or you can visit our web site at www.gibem2me.com

Thanks for all the unselfish replies and understanding. It's a few days later and the feeling has mostly dwindled to a few thoughts on it a day. Hopefully it will get better as time goes by. I'll just have to keep those two pistols confined to seperate range trips.

It's a wonderful feeling to know that we have so much support amongst each other here at TFL. Kudo's to those who are willing to think unselfishly and take one for the team. :D

From the above posts, I don't doubt fot a minute that with this group, you would take one. Just not so sure it would be "for the team."

:D

I have done the same to a point. All my auto pistols are now glocks with the exception of my Para p14 and my Browning Buckmark. Sigs, Berettas, HK's, Walthers are good guns but I have found that the DA SA design is a handicap.
