The first time I tried to buy an XS Skeet, the deal blew up because the gun not only turned out to be manufacured in 2006 there were some indications that it had been fired a lot in additon to a few other things, like the dealer wouldn't run a clean patch down the barrels for me.
So I call a guy at Bass Pro and tell him that I do not want an old gun, but I want the latest production XS Skeet. I tell them that there are none available but there are three unspoken for that can be pre-ordered from Browning. They are due to arrive in December. He and the woman that handles their inventory agree that they can and will order me one of those three if I come out there and pay for one in full. This morning the guy calls to let me know that one indeed has been ordered for me. At least twice I make it clear that I want the most recent model procuced and he tells me I will be getting one. He is familiar with the hassle I had on the previous deal.
So I spend half my day driving to the Bass Pro and doing paperwork and pay in full for the gun. I even have a copy of a special order form saying that this woman ordered from Brownng the specific model # listed in the most recent Browning catalogue. Later after dinner I questioned how it was that they expect to receive a gun in a couple of days that no one has in stock, including Browning. Having been screwed so royally in the other deal, I called and guess what?
I have to confirm in the morning but the skew number on my receipt is for a discontinued model, the Grade One XS Skeet.
I am going to get drunk and I don't drink. This time it is tragedy of errors and I truly believe everyone at the Bass Pro (I don't know about the woman in their corporate buying department) was acting in good faith, but the net result is I am getting screwed.
