I fell in love with a German gal,,,
My new-to-me Mauser ES 340B single-shot .22 rifle.

This rifle is old world engineering at it's finest,,,
It's built like a tank and is almost as heavy as one.

I sat at a bench with a plastic MTM front rest,,,
And a rolled up jacket at the rear.

I was able to shoot groups at 25/50/100 yards,,,
That were better than any I've done before.

I paid $245.00 for the rifle,,,
$50 for the shipping fee,,,
And $20.00 for transfer.

I am a very happy camper,,,
This is my rimfire silhouette rifle this year.

Correct me if I am wrong,,,

Correct me if I am wrong,,,
But I believe the only difference between this rifle and the DSM-34 trainer is the stock.

I do believe the stock on this rifle is why I got it so cheap.

The front had a small crack at the swivel,,,
It was patched with a wooden peg,,,
Not a bad job though.

The other alterations are the handgrip was carved out a little deeper,,,
And someone tried to carve a fake cheek rest on the side.

Fortunately the Bubba had some skills and they aren't badly done,,,
But I don't really care about those things as long as she shoots.

And that she does as well as any rifle I own.

This weekend I'm going to do a side by side comparison,,,
Of this rifle and my CZ 452 Military Trainer.

Same ammo and rest set-up for both guns,,,
It will be German versus Czech.

I'll be curious as to which I shoot better with.

Well I have a DSM34 sporter, probably not quite as nicely done as yours. One of these days I'm going to see if I can't find a nice stock for it as it definitely deserves one. I won't tell you what I paid for it as you'd be extremely jealous!;)

Hello Taylorce1

Your rifle looks as if it started with the military stock,,,
Which was then "sporterized" by someone.

I promise not to be jealous of your price,,,
I paid several hundred less than what I expected,,,
And I'm happy to see other shooters get a good deal as well. :)

How does your shoot?

First time I shot it I killed a coyote with it at 50 yards, unfortunately I haven't shot it much since. I broke my leg and it hasn't been a priority but I need to start shooting the .22 LR more. Anyway I picked mine up at a gun show for about 1/3 the price you paid for yours, but like I said I think your rifle is much nicer.
