I done gone and broke my Ruger Secooretehi Seex

I was pulling the trigger on my Ruger Security Six a few moments ago, when the trigger failed to reset itself after the hammer snapped forward. I could move it with my fingers to give it a little help. I could pull the trigger and the action would go through again but the trigger would still hold in the back of the trigger guard and not spring forward.

I started trying to take it apart....made a mess...got it halfway broken down thinking I could easily put it back together (hearing that Rugers and Smiths were simpler than Colts)....I have the hammer out, some pin that appeared when I took the grips off, some little thing, the bar that the hammer swings on, the main spring out of hte gun. The trigger, bolt and everything below that point is still in place and I can't even get to those parts. This gun doesn't seem to have a sideplate like S&Ws adn Colts

Any blueprints out there I can use to get this thing back together?

Also, what could the problem be.

Ruger fixes these things for free, but I don't want to send it off if this is a question of simple powder buildup or something else I can do myself.

Thank you

Ruger Security Six

I Highly recommend Jerry Kuhnhausens book:
" The Ruger Double Action Revolvers " A Shop Manual, Vol. 1
The book price is $23.00, available through Borders, Barnes & Noble, Gun Shows, Brownells etc.
It covers the entire Ruger Six Series of revolvers:
* Security Six
* Police Service Six
* Speed Six

It will answer all your questions.
You won't be disappointed with the investment.

Well Mr. Kuhnhusen didn't disappoint me with Colt DA revolvers Vol. 1

I am planning to go to the bookstore tonight. I'll see if it's available

thank you

I believe you can go to Rugers website and download a manual for your gun, or call ruger and they will send you one for free.It's always good to have one on hand for times like these.;)

As mentioned you should be able to down-load a manual from Ruger's web site. Sounds like you may have broken one leg of the Trigger return spring. If you invest a phone call, Ruger may send you one free. Of course you should verify that that's the part in doubt..... :D
