I didn't know Ruger Security Sixes had different internal workings

I ordered a trigger spring for a Ruger Security Six last week, got it last night and tried to install it. It was too big and the ends were different than the one that was broken inside the gun.
I just got off the phone with them, gave them my serial # and they said there were two different types of trigger springs for different Security Sixs depending on the year they were made.

yeah, there's a pre vs post date. Can't remember what it is but it has to do with the changes made to the grip (which affects the spring).

I think the first S*-6 revolvers with a 150- prefix to the serial number were different. Ruger made changes to improve handling and pointing qualities starting with the 151 series.

(or we could start an internet rumor about inch versus metric Rugers.) ;)

:( they keep sending me the same wrong part. I just had them send it again (I now have three KE-37 trigger springs which don't fit this type of Security Six) and I think we got it right. Since they are sending me all this for free I can't complain too much, but I'd like to go ahead and fix this gun

You obviously have a pre-151 Security-Six. Good luck, enev with Ruger. The pre-151 didn't sell nearly as many as the post-number revolvers. They'll get it right eventually.:)

The goofy backstrap really was an abortion. Ive owned both, and the 150 series now sports a set of Herrets that cover the weird backstrap. (note to self..buy it back from it's present owner). The actions werent quite as easy to lighten as the later versions, in my experience.

The later Security/Speed/Service Six was, in my opinion, one of the great revolver deals going. Beefy construction, accurate enough, and usually priced about $25-$50 less than the similar Smith.

:o*sigh* This really is for laughs. I CALLED THEM AGAIN after they sent me the same wrong spring AGAIN. THEN WE GET IT STRAIGHT (SO I THOUGHT) and THEY SEND ME a trigger spring and manuel for a Single Six:eek:

THREE DANG TIMES AND IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE! What is going on?

If all of this wasn't for free (on their dime) I would be :mad::mad:right now. But this is really kinda funny as I am not paying anything for it.

I think I am just going to take all three springs, receipts and envelopes and mail ALL of them back with the gun and just tell them to figure it out themselves and put it back together and mail it back. Even if I have to pay for it delivery and Ruger's repair services, this is getting ridiculous.
