I brought home a baby............GLOCK!

People, you know the story:

Went to gunshop for $5 plastic barrel bushing wrench, and came home with wrench, AND a $611 + tax plastic pistol...specifically a Glock 36.

I had the itch, have been contemplating a compact carry pistol, and here it is.

As a dyed in the wool 1911/Browning disciple, this feels a little weird.

I'll probably wring it out tomorrow, but I have to say, it feels really good.

I envy you. Was at a gunshow today here in Austin. I fondled a Glock 36 and the one I really want, the 26. But since the wife has quit working as we now have an addition to the family on the way, I can only dream for now. I'm very well armed already but there's always one you've got to have. Enjoy.

I've heard so many conflicting reports on the 36. Please post your findings here. The 36 fits the niche I'm looking to fill and I'm hoping it's as good as my 26.

I have had a G36 for a month now and like it very much. I think you will enjoy yours.

SAScott, coincidentally, I and a friend were at the Boise Gun Show today, and he found a new Glock 36. (He's a big Glock fan anyway, and carries one daily.)

He bought the 36 for 600$$ including tax, and walked out with it as he showed his Idaho CCW and didn't have to go through any wait or background check.

We'll be going to the range soon and will find out how the 36 wrings out with diffeent ammo. Will post when we know. Best of luck with your's. J.B.

SA Scott,
I sort of did the same thing a month or so ago, But came home with a Glock 27 :D Hope you like yours as much as I do mine :D Amazing how you go for one thing and come home with something else and spending more money  I did it again with a Gibbs rifle, Went for ammo didn't have what I wanted so I bought the rifle ;)
Anyway good luck with it and Happy Shooting :)

Congradulations, please let us know if it will feed and function with jacketed 200 gr SWC bullets. The reason I ask is my Glock 30 hates them. Regards, Richard.

Richard,
Careful with SWC loads in your Glocks. They aren't recommended at all. I tried them in a 30 and 21 and broke extractors on both.

Not to mention lead bullets are supposed to be downright dangerous in a barrel with polygonal rifling. This rifling will lead up quickly with unjacketed bullets degrading both accuracy and increasing chamber pressure (kB). All my Glocks have aftermarket barrels with cut rifling to allow me to shoot lead (not to mention the tighter lock up and accuracy).

OK, Guys, here's the scoop:

Went to outdoor range today, sweating my prodigious butt off.

120 rounds, flawless reliability. May not sound remarkable, but I've never seen it in any of my previous pistols.

This was a mix of Sellier & Bellot 230 gr. FMJ, Blazer FMJ, Winchester 185 gr. Silvertips, and 165 and 230 gr. Federal HydraShoks.

Recoil was significant in that the gun wanted to wrench out of my hand if I didn't maintain a firm grip. My accuracy started to suffer, because of a mild flinch, and my lazy trigger finger getting fatigued by the long pull. But when I was doing my part-solid.

The pistol was pleasant to shoot, accuracy was acceptable for a new pistol and shooter new to the pistol. I expect my groups will tighten up. It's not a match gun, but it'll do what I need it to do.

The pistol, riding in an Aker Yaqui slide was hardly noticeable on my hip. Points well.

Potential adjustments: I may have a gunsmith put in the 3.5lb. disconnector and polish the surfaces, if the trigger is still a bit heavy after a few hundred more rounds, and find something to improve my grip, which seemed a bit slippery at times.

Overall, I'm very pleased, and I think this may be at least part of the carry solution I've been looking for. I'm not a total convert, but my mind is more open than it was.
