I blasted my SP!

Well, I finally went and did it. After consulting the gurus on this and the gunsmithing board I bead blasted my SP101.
Thanks to all those who gave their input!

Bead blasting!

SK--

Looks great!

I can buff my stainless guns whenever I put a scratch on them but one of my guns has a bead blasted area on the top strap. How do you indend to properly "buff" out any marks?

Got a better photo. The speedloader is a Maxfire http://www.speedloaders.com/
Not sure how I'll take care of scratches, if they're bad enough I could just put it back in the blasting cabinet.
After I finished it I saw a photo in The Blue Press of a bead blasted S&W but the cylinder flutes were mirror polished. Thought it looked pretty good.

Don't know if it's an artifact of the picture, but is the relief for the ejector rod SUPPOSED to look like that???? No flame, just curious. Very curious.

Hutch; not sure I'm seeing what you do. Do you mean the bevel at the front of the rod?
Spent some time this afternoon polishing the cylinder flutes. Photo doesn't do it justice though.

Looking pretty nice, gonna take it further?
I just bought a Smith 66, I'd sure like to see it in bead-blast, but it's too new to start foolimg around with!;)

Already did the hammer & trigger, had thought about the notches & release but haven't done 'em.
Next step is a pair of wood grips. I've already added Wolf springs & a Trijicon sight.

When, that's a relief....

Ol' gullible here thought you had "ka-boomed" your SP101, by the way you worded your title. I thought "not possible" and was right. BTW, it looks very sharp!

Hey, why would I mind? I borrowed the idea from someone else!
I used a dremel with the felt cone shaped tip. Started out with Dremel metal polish, went to Mothers mag & chrome polish and finished it off with Flitz.

How much disasembly/preparation to the SP101 was necessary before blasting?
What type of media was used for the blasting?

I like that bead blasted finish. I really like the contrast between the high polish flutes and the duller finish, look real sharp.

I polished my Speed Six with a Dremel and jeweler rouge, it did a wonderful job. It took me all weekend but I now have something I am proud of and not just something I spent money on.

Uhave2:
I removed the hammer, front sight & cylinder, left the trigger assy. in place. taped off the trigger & ejector rod then stuffed Silly Putty into any hole, slot or crevice that I figured the media would get into. The Silly Putty works great, easy to remove.
Not sure what size the beads were, the fellow that owned the cabinet I used said it was the smallest size available locally.
After bead blasting I disassembled the gun and sprayed it down liberally with brake cleaner followed by CLP then re-assembled.
