This is all your fault!
I went to the local gun shop today to see what they would give me towards a trade for my 442. I was looking for something in a mid range .45 like a ruger or daly. All was going well until a friend of mine (yea right) that works there handed me a shiny new Kimber. If the rest of you would have posted more bad things about Kimbers I wouldnt have walked out of there so many hundreds lighter.
Anyway I can hardly wait for the shop to get my order in so I can get to the range. Christmas in January, ohhh yeaaa!:D

He-he-he-he, now the "accessories" will have to be aded, different stocks, longer/shorter trigger/cleaning gear, holsters. He-he-he-he.

Kimber????????????????????

Aw sweet Jesus....fell for the bait didya'? Could have had a Colt 1991A1 for less, and it would be a REAL 45. Oh well, I'll pray for you:barf:

Take a deep breath...

You will be fine. You have purchased a great gun and it will serve you very well.

Tell us what model Kimber you bought.

I went for the basic matte black Custom Classic. I figure I can shoot it for a while then make some changes accordingly. I am already working on a trade for some wood stocks so I can ditch the rubber ones. Actually I thought about a Colt, but my local shops dont stock them. Is there anything I should watch out for? Thanks again:)

can't go wrong with the full size kimber.thousands of
rounds through my classic target not one problem
except the time need to reload more target ammo!!!!!

PRHM,

Have well over 10,000 rounds through mine with no problems. Nary a hiccup.

The finish is less than it could be, it will wear in time. I have yet to see any rust and I carry mine a lot. Just keep up good preventative maintenance and it will be fine.

Give it 200-300 rounds of "break-in" with FMJ and then move to JHP if that is your intent. Although my attempts with JHP in the first few hundred rounds went fine, my Classic custom was "tight" and I thought a few hundred of FMJ first before stoking it with JHP was probably just erring on the side of caution.

Hard to beat what you've got for the money, in my limited experience.

YOU TRADED AN OLDSMOBILE FOR A KIMBER? WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SMOKING?

Gee whiz, I'd have thought you could have gotten at least a Pro Carry or an Eclipse for an Oldsmobile, especially a 442.

Series II troubles?

I just came from the 1911 forum. There are a lot of posts about series II Kimbers having problems. Can anyone tell me what the deal is. Does anyone here have a Series II, does it work? Thanks.

Word is that some of the series II compact models have safety problems. The full size models weren't affected (or so I've read). Specifically, the grip safety will not disengage fully and will slow the hammer enough to cause a failure to fire or other problems. I have a Kimber Compact in my closet that is series II and it has never had a failure..........even during break in. My friend has a full size classic and a CDP model (both series II) and hasn't had a failure in either in the first 300 rounds. I think this series II problem occurs....just not as often as it appears on the boards. If it does, send the piece back to Kimber.....problem solved.
