I still have a few classes to finish this summer, but yesterday my wife and I graduated from Utah State. I'm almost done!

You guys would have puked over the comencement speakers, every one was PC.

This isn't totally off topic, for a graduation present to myself, I just put down some $ and ordered a Springfield Armory Loaded 1911 in stainless. :)

Correia, let me be the first to congratulate you. When you're doing it, it feels like school will never end. And then, later in life, college seems so long ago. It is an accomplishment you can always look back on with pride.

I've also found that besides the economic advantages, college has also helped me free my mind to explore more than I might have otherwise. For many people, I think it opens up much of the world.

'Course, then there are those 'PC' folks that will just never get it, eh? ;)

So, what was your major?

Regards from AZ

It is a good career, and a good foundation for many things in life. I've known many who attained their CPA, and practiced in public accounting, private industry as Controllers and CFO's, and also many business owners and CEO's. Best wishes to you.

Regards from AZ

Congratulations. Get some computer science courses to back you up and you can help rule the world.

BTW, you can't just sign any contracts with an "X" any more. You have to use "X" "X" to indicate you're an college grad. ;)

Oatka, or an "Xx" the lil' one in case he's a jr. :D

Correia, kudos to you on a job well done!!!

Congratulations Larry! Man, with the t-shirt thing AND school, you've been a little on the busy side! Congrats to your wife as well, and good choice on a 1911! Take Care- Dakotan

And I'll just add my own CONGRATULATIONS!!! to you and your wife!

I still remember, just before my own graduation, when the Dean told all us Injunears that, "Graduation means you've spent five years learning in what books to look up the information you're supposed to have memorized."

:), Art

All right! Way to be, Correia.
I have this week of finals left (my first one is in four hours, I should be studying, but hey, life is funny that way :D ) and then I graduate next Sunday.

You wanna compare PC commencement speakers? I will take all comers--we got George Bush Sr. My grandpa on mom's side is thrilled; I almost don't have the heart to tell him I'd rather have somebody else. Alan Keyes would be a pretty cool commencement speaker.
The crappy part is that I won't even be able to carry my pocketknife. :(

Also, I don't think anybody will be buying me a 1911 for a graduation present--especially not that tightwad me!

HEY-- THE WORLD NEEDS DITCH DIGGERS TOO, YA KNOW!!!!! LOL! Terrific news. Takes a long time to get to that point.(so I hear!)
I hope your education and dedication can take you to the place you wish to be. Good luck to you both!!!
Steve

Hey, and if you really, really want to avoid getting a life, you can go to graduate school. See, not only do you have your Bull S**t, but you can get it Piledhigher and Deeper. Congrats!

P.S. as a college grad, you can't say "YeeHaaaw!" anymore, you have to say (stuffily), "Jolly good show!" Didn't they give you the rulebook on graduation? ;)

Correia:

Congrats to you and your Mrs.! I got my BS in Accounting back in 74. Minored in Computer Science, 3 units shorts of a double major. At the time they did not allow double major's so kept my classes short. If I may make a suggestion, Get your Masters in Bus Admin or tax now while you can. It's almost impossible to get it once you've been in the work place for a while and have gotten used to the increase in living conditions (Hard to go back to 0 income). Tade off with your wife. One work while the other goes to school. Then switch. Can't say this enough, but a BS does not cut the mustard for the higher paying jobs anymore. Even with 20+ years of experience in Accounting with my CPA, CMA, CCP & CSP I still get beat out of some good spots by those with a Masters and a CPA.

Also as a young couple, when you start out to work, make it a hard fast rule to always contribute the maximum in a tax deferred account. Either the work's 401 or an IRA. If I had done that at your age, I would now be retired. If you start out putting it away before anything else is paid, you won't miss it. If you wait, "thinking I'll start in just as soon as I get a few bills paid", you never will.

The debate is not about guns,
but rather who has the ultimate power to rule,
the People or Government.
RKBA!

Congratulations! But, don't forget to buy your wife a nice gun! Remember, the family that shoots together stays together.

Congradulations, I bet its a relief to know it all said and done with, but of course depending on what field your going in, you will have more school but I'm proud of you for fininshing, not many get this honor. So congradulations again. :)

WHEN IT COMES TO FRIENDS THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT

Yes it has been busy lately. All this and a baby due in June.

Bookie, I am planning on pursuing a MBA, I'm in the application process now to become a cop, and I plan on doing the masters long term, like one class a semester (homestudy and net classes whenever possible) for the next few years, from U of U, or Weber State.

Why a cop? I don't know, I just feel that it is something that I need to do. For how long? I don't know yet.

Yes, my wife is going to get a gun also, she just hasn't decided which one yet. :) But for some reason she thinks its more important to buy stuff like furniture and things like that first. Go figure.

Congrats Don.

Thanks everybody for the kind words, TFL is kind of like a really large extended family to me. Man, thats weird but true.

Larry, let me also add my congratulations to you and your wife! Way to go!!! And good for you for pursuing you MBA as well. I must say, my Master's program was the best part of my education...and I also had better grades than I did in undergrad!! It is amazing how much better you do when you are studying something you actually want to learn! :D

Congrats to you and your wife, Larry!

A fully loaded SA 1911, eh? Good for you! So much for all of the crap I hear about "starving students." :D

Seriously, take some time to bask in the moment and look at your diploma with pride.

You earned it.
