I am not modern.

We won't hold that against you!

Mine are a mix of some older guns and 3 Modern ones.

The old ones are fun, the modern ones are accurate (I built them to be).

Well, I'm not exactly modern myself. My Mauser 98 in 7X57 gets more hunting time than anything more modern I own. My Winchesters are of the 1885, 1892, and 1894 flavor, except for my 1942 Model 70 (in 7X57, as well) and the Model 43 in 218 Bee. My Savages are 1899s, and several are take-downs to boot. So, I'm with you, SP!

Not modern? So what?

For the various activities represented, I would opine you are well equipped. All those calibers and arms should do as well as any 'modern' arm - except possibly fling out a large number of bullets in a general direction in a short period of time.

I've never seen the legitimate need for a belted, 300 Umpa-Whoopee Magnum thingie.

Currently, I have a M1903 (Greek) Mannlicher being rebarreled (original barrel is trashed) to 6.5x54 MS to build a 'gentleman's stalking rifle'. I'm sure it will harvest any game animal in the contiguous forty-eight states - except large aggressive bears, perhaps.

"Old" does not equate to inadequate. Perhaps in lighting, but not in firearms.
