HYPOTHETICAL: Safe just been through fire.

So I recently got a RSC and had some questions. If you actually have a house fire what if any protocol should be followed to best salvage any contents? Is the safe (S&G combination dial lock) going to open without a safe/vault tech? Should it be opened ASAP or does it matter? Also, with a 60min 1250* safe using 5/8" firerock what can you reasonably expect to find?

You can notify the fire department that you have a safe, and perhaps they can focus some attention to keep the temperatures down around it.

After a safe is in a fire, you will not be able to open it. The dials, keypads, and sometimes handles burn off. A safe tech will need to open it, and if it's hot, it will need to sit over night.

You will typically see damage in sheet rock lined safes. Sometimes it's minimal, sometimes it's a total loss. Lots of variables.
