Hypothetical question

With the elections coming up I wanted to get your feelings on something. If you had the choice of voting for someone anti-gun, pro tax cuts, pro life, tough on illegal immigration, etc., or a pro gun, anti tax cut, pro abortion, pro amnesty for illegal immigrants how would you vote?

Given a choice, I usually vote my guns. However, as a lifelong Californian, I rarely have a clear choice.

The latter without question. I'm already pro-gun and pro-choice and I doubt there's any politician who is genuinely pro-tax cuts. Tax cuts slow the influx of pennies into their piggy bank and as long as we retain our flawed income tax system it's impossible to trust any politician when they say they'll lower taxes. Can't say I'd be a fan of amnesty but unless we move to an excise tax system there's no other way to get those 12 million to pay taxes.

In my case, I don't feel than any of the politicians are talking about any of the issues I feel are important. Maybe Congress doesn't matter any more! In fact, I sometimes think that issues are created out of thin air to distract voters from problems that no one is seriously attempting to solve. I agree that illegal immigration is a problem but I think the problem of jobs going overseas, with the associated issues of wage deflation and imports vs. exports being way more important. Likewise, whatever you may think of our income (and other) tax system, you should understand that our budget deficit is out of control and no tax cut can solve it. If the deficit doesn't matter, then we ought to just borrow everything and have no taxes at all. In the same line of thinking, if cheap (or inexpensive, if you prefer that word) imported goods allow us to live better than we otherwise would, then why don't we import everything?

Of course, I could have my priorities all wrong.

I like pro gun. I don't believe tax cuts ever actually happen anyway. I'm pro choice. And I don't mind "amnesty" for illegals per se, provided that someone puts some measures in place to make these folks pay their taxes.

Does that make me a bad Republican?

I thank the good lord that I won't have to make that decision. I'm pro-gun, pro tax cuts, pro life, anti-gay marriage and want someone tough on illegal immigration.

Wow!

"I wish I could find someone pro-gun and pro-abortion.":barf:
Sorry, I know you're entitled to an opinion just like everyone else but that makes me sick everytime I hear it.

Amen! I'm with you!

I wish I could find someone pro-gun and pro-abortion.

Another one on that side..

What aggravates me is that the ones who howl loudest for "gun freedom" are the ones who holw loudest against what folks do with their bodies. Conversely, those who howl loudest about your freedom to do what you want with your body howl loudest against guns...

Interesting, innt it

If it was just their bodies I could care less. It not.

What is interesting though is the people who howl for animal rights are the same that support abortion on demend.

What is interesting though is that we're only offered the choice between politicians who want to take away these rights and the politicians that want to take away those rights.
