Hunting practice

I made a squirrel target out of Styrofoam cup and a sharpie. I think I did a good job.

Yeah we are ready, done with two bb guns at about 25 feet in the back of my apt.

Nothing personal but you really really need a more acurate gun or a heck of a lot more practice. Every one of your shots shound be in the CENTER of the head or CENTER of the chest be fore you even think about going hunting.

neither one of the air rifles is that nice, both are wally world specials and a few of the shots were taken by my midget who's not that great of a shot. so I thinks its fine for hunting the tree rats in the trees around here.

Im not going to eat the little suckers, this is just pest control + they eat trash around here and probably full of parasites. and i hear the grey ones aren't good eats.

Looks like Mrs.Butterworth...:D Practice with golf balls...
Don't hunt with less than 700fps muzzle velocity (rules out most pump ups) and as said above be sure of your ability and that of the weapon. even for a ruthless coldhearted mutha such as my self it does eat at me to see a crippled tree rat suffering trying to hang on. I have intentionally "winged" tree rats in a method we used to call "limbing" where you aim at the limb a busy tail is laying flat on so the bullet will ricochet into it off the limb rarely causing instant kill. But we were reloaded before he hit the ground to finish him off. Since I am not forced to hunt them as my meat source I no longer hunt in that fashion.
The Greys are all we have here... The few foxes are protected. They eat just fine but the pine seed eaters are not so good. You need a good mast crop of acorns or shoot the ones that dine on corn ans seed from yard feeders.

like I said this is pretty urban (well not by my standards but somewhat) area. these squirrels are not just nut eaters, they eat trash and cig butts, so I won't be eating these grays. although maybe ill go off into the woods and bag me a few wild ones to try some squirrel stew or something.

And I am sure of my ability, not only was I not the only one shooting but we also had to sight in the scope on one of the air rifles.

p.s. it does look like that Mrs. Buttersworth, but thats b/c shes the other target:D

Bet not many of them made it back to the hole to suffer:rolleyes:

Urban squirrels are a pain. My folks live in the city. Their neighborhood is mostly retired folks. Has tons of flowers and little gardens. Tree rats are constantly digging up plants. Heck they have rabbits you can walk to within 10 feet of. Unfortunately my mother will not let me help clean out some of them. Even though she is constantly complaining about the damage:rolleyes:
