To ask the obvious question........

When is hunting Emus NOT a wild thing?

I had to post on that one, having actually garnered some experience on the subject by shooting one, once.

I'm kind of amused by the armament that some are suggesting is necessary to harvest those birds; I think a light varment cartridge or heavy birdshot shotgun load would be perfect to put one down. Just put one through the high chest.

As I just posted over there, I think I'd find out what they're worth before I shot them. I would think a breeding pair of emu's should be worth at least a few thousand dollars
