Hunting bullet

What type of bullet do y'all use for hunting? North American game only.

I personally use Nosler Partition from Federal and Hornady Custom Interlock. I've recently started using the new Winchester Partition Gold, but I had my scope break so I can't really determine how good they worked. I'm about to try out the polymer tip bullets, mainly, Remington's Scirocco if I can find a box of the damn cartridges.

130 gr Winchester Silvertip Softpoint; accurate out of my .270 win Steyr-Mannlicher. One deer to my credit, certainly not the bullets fault (I'm kinda new at this deer hunting stuff, relatively speaking).

I've had success with Federal's TBBC 165 in 30-06 on caribou, the previous owner of this rifle had excellent results with Fail Safe in 180 gr on moose and caribou, I really ought to try them sometimes...

Nosler Ballistic Tips, 140 gr in 7-08, 150 gr in 7mm Rem Mag and 308, 165 gr in 30-06 and 300 Win Mag. I reload all of my own ammo, can't afford to buy factory stuff as I shoot too much.

Mel,

Have you tried the Scirocco or Hornady's SST?

I absolutely detest the Fail Safe. I shot two deer with perfect shot placement and they both ran on me for quite a ways. I switched back to Nosler Partitions and now they drop right where they stand.

I use 1 bullet for antelope deer elk and black bear. .30 cal sierra 165 gr spitzer boat tail soft point. (30-06)

If you don't reload you get this bullet in federal premuim game king bullets.

best energy at long range, ballistics comperable to 168 gr national match.

Mississippi, I have not tried the Scirocco's too expensive, am in the process of working up a load with the SST 139 gr 7mm in my 7-30 Waters(T/C carbine), these are bullets that I have moly/wax coated. Was having a problem with the barrel, so sent it back to T/C for them to take a look at it. I have the Nosler Partitions in most all of the calibers that I reload, but have fount that the Ballistic Tips do the job on the deer here in Virginia, and they only cost half as much.
