'Hunter' SKS by Poly-Tech?

This appears to be a new gun(?). It has a new wood MC stock with longer LOP. Either the barrel was purpose-built at 16", or it's the best cut and crown job I've ever seen on an SKS. The bore is chromed, along with the bolt and carrier. There are no matching numbers on the various parts, as on a normal mil-spec gun. The mag has been replaced with a 5rd box that is flush with the wood. There is a forward sling mount attachment right where the cleaning rod would insert down into the forend. The rear is on the heel of the butt, and it is already equipped with quality QD swivels. The gun also has an ambi-safety installed, which I appreciate(lefty with long arms:)). I'm wondering if this one may be one of the elusive few with a spring-loaded firing-pin?

The overall quality of the finish appears to be a notch or two above that of the average Norinco. The only thing which I don't like is that the bolt-carrier appears as though it may have had some light pitting prior to being re-furbished and plated. Other than that, all I would need to do with this gun is fit a standard box mag back in place. Is $299 too much to pay for this one? (I've posted on some of the 'other' sites with little response).

Sounds about right. The "paratrooper" (16") versions command a higher price, and if you're looking for a sturdy, inexpensive short-range autoloader FOR HUNTING, go for it.
