Hunter safety course

Yesterday, My oldest son finished his hunter safety course. My dad took me in 1976 and it was one of the best things he ever did for me. I hope my boy remembers this experience (and me) as fondly as I do. My dad is gone now, but his wisdom and encouragement are still with me. I can't wait to get this boy his first deer rifle.

Been teaching for twenty years and still enjoying it, especially parents with their kids. At any given class, we range from 11yrs. old to parents and even Grandparents. I encourage all to shoot when they come to my station. Iike it when I see past students come up to me and ask if I'm that "Muzzleloading guy". My compliments to you and all parents for sharing this special time with your sons and daughters. We teach them, feed them and share some good times. I could write a book about all the funny things that kids say at our shooting stations. As mentioned, we are all volunteers and just trying to give something back. Can't put a price tag on this experience?? ... :)
God bless America !!!

Thats great. Dad use to take me hunting when I was about 8 or 9 years old but I only got to carry a Red Ryder BB Gun. When I turned 10 he did get me a .410 single shot, savage shotgun that broke down and has the hammer. Later on he bought me a Marlin model 25 .22 rifle. I didn't go through the hunter safety course until about the 9th grade. Being that I had already been handling guns and hunting really was a plus, beacuse I kind of knew what the instructor was talking about. I think its a great idea that they teach hunter safety courses in the schools. Really not sure if they do that anymore though due to the pressure the gun haters.
