Huldra Arms

So, I was at Mills Fleet Farm last night (upper midwest folk will know what store I mean) and I came across a new piston driven line of AR's by a company called Huldra Arms. Apparently Huldra Arms in owned by the same guy that owns Fleet Farm and he's big into hunting and competition shooting. So he has teamed with Adams Arms to create a proprietary line of AR's.

They seem to be decent quality and they're fairly well price pointed form what I can tell but I've never heard of the partner company Adams Arms. Anyone know anything about them and their quality level?

By the way this is not the thread for a DI vs. piston debate, I'm simply seeking info on these particular brands. Thanks.

Saw them in the ad, haven't made my way into the store yet (maybe tomorrow). I agree, you should buy one and give us a range report :D (hehe). I'm in the same boat as you Borch, The price looks decent enough, would be nice if it is a decent gun. Was hoping to find some postings in here. thanks for the background info.

Some promo info here ...

Borch,

I have the Tactical Elite model. I was skeptical of the piston gun at first until the owner of Mills Fleet Farm put one in my hand. I have been T and Eing the gun since last June. So far I like it. I have about 3000 rds through it. I rechecked my zero(50 yds)the day before a 3 day carbine course. My five shot group I could cover up with a nickel. It would have been tighter but my 5th round jumped about a 1/4 inch. I didn't clean it during the 3 days. I shot 2000 rds and no issues other than I induced a double feed by jamming a mag in too hard. I have buried this rifle in sand and it shot a full 30 round mag with no issues. I submerged it in water for 5 minutes and shot another mag and no issues. It is very well built. I can't tell much of a difference as far as recoil goes between it and my DI guns. If you know somebody who has one go out and shoot it. Other wise if you are in MN the owner of the Mills Fleet Farm stores has pondered the idea of having a day where people could come out and shoot the Huldras.

Also we have ran over 4000 rds through the 5.45 model. We used russian surplus ammo. The gun was never lubed or cleaned. The first malfunction was some where around the 4300 mark(dont quote me on the round count but it is on youtube)
There is a lot of info on M4carbine.net or go to www.huldraarms.com.

Radiator you are correct. As of right now they are the only complete rifle that Adams is currently producing for the commercial market.

Today I put a few different loads on paper with my Huldra Tactical Elite.

I zeroed it with Ultramax 55 gr sp. I actually got my best group with that load. Well under an inch at 100 yds.

I shot a Fiocchi 77 gr hp. This group was just a bit larger than an inch group.

The third shot group was with a Federal 55 gr sp. As you can see in the picture I threw 2 rds way out.

I shot some Wolf 55 gr sp but wasn't worth posting a photo. My group was all over at about 5 inches. I shot this ammo earlier and probably had the group at about 3 inches. Obviously not a quality round as I have heard this before about russian ammo.

Temperature today was about 27 degrees. I was shooting in the prone using sand bags as my rests. I probably should have used a shooting vise of some sort but did not have one available.

Thought I would share this to answer some of the questions on this thread.

Thanks.

I forgot to mention in my first photo there are 2 shot groups with 5 rds for each. The first group appears as if there are only 4 holes. There are actually 5 as one round went into another shot.

Had I used a shooting vise(gun sled/whatever you want to call it) my groups would have been much tighter. For a gun right out of the box it is a shooter.

Sorrty about that. I was using a Nikon M223 2-8x32. Today was the first day I have used this scope. Its on loan to me from the owner of Mills Fleet Farm. I was in Fleet Farm the other day and its about a $435 scope. I wouldn't mind having one of my own.
