HS2000 no longer

Since the HS2000 is no longer. Since Springfield Armory started importing them and raised the price $100. Has anyone tired the XD's? Guess they have them in three calibers now 9, 40, and 357sig. Plus want to know if anyone has expirence with a TZ-99 or a Arcus 94.

Thanks

I have heard mixed reviews of the TZ99.

There have been positive reviews of the Arcus 94 on these forums.

The XD is just an HS2000 with new roll marks and a higher price tag. The reviews should be positive for everything about the gun except the price.

My TZ-99 is as sweet as they come, with great ergonomics and a smoooooooth trigger.I can't imagine anyone not loving it.A friend had the Arcus and got rid of it because of reliability issues, however i've read that if you replace the extractor they are great guns.

LilJoe,
I own all three (HS though, not the XD). The TZ-99 and Arcus 94 are fantastic values. You won't get the fit and finish of SIG 226 or an FN HP, but mine have proved accurate and reliable. At $269 and $219 from Aim Surplus, you can't beat the value. The TZ even comes with 2 factory prebans (15 rounders).

Some folk on HS2000 Talk have already purchased a XD. Opinions have been positive. Currently, only the 9mm and .40 are shipping. I'm waiting on the .357 SIG, which is expected before the 1st of the year.

C'mon and take a free ride...

Shot the XD in .40 cal. Ran like a top, as expected.

Some folks whining about the price. Odd; we all knew it would go up sooner or later.

The HS crowd always insisted they had a $400+ quality pistol capable of playing with the big kids on their hands, but now some don't want to pay the price of success in this capitalist world.

Free rides rarely last forever.

Remember when a Glock cost only $5 more than a Ruger P-89? :p

Tamara,
I've always considered the HS as a $550 - $600 pistol at half the price. I for one am more than willing to pay $400 - $425 for an XD in .357. Hopefully, with Springfield in the picture, we'll eventually be seeing a .45, followed by some sub compacts. I can always hope, can't I? ;)

I'm willing to pay, I just don't want to add another caliber right now. As soon as they add a .45, I'll put my money on the counter. (hint hint to springfield if they're lurking- bring out a .45 version soon!)

The HS2000 was a great value. But with the XD's price, I think its sales will be slower now that its fighting toe to toe with Glock, Kahr, HK and the like.

And the TZ-99 is a nice Sig P226 clone. I'd just be worried if it breaks. Its a South African made gun after all.

Street prices:

XD: $400
Glock: $490
Kahr: $550
USP: $620

"Toe to toe"?

I don't know....I've talked to a few that own both and they say the HS "Out Glocks the Glocks" I am waiting to get ahold of one so I can see what the hub-bub is about.

Sorry for the foul smell, but my breath is baited! :D

I think more people will want to spend the extra money to get a Glock, Sig, or Beretta instead of XD. I would.

I would agree if those individuals were going on "name value" alone. Those that have experience shooting all of those mentioned above, may have a different opinion.
I have owned both the HS and the Glock, and sold the Glock.

The upside is that the HS2000 is no longer an orphan from out of country... It has been adopted and now has some family backing.
Meaning if anything does happen to the gun - Springfield WILL take care of you. I don't know about customer service that backed it up before... but Springfield isn't that bad. And when they do return your gun - 90% of the time that gun comes back blessed. That insurance is WORTH the 100 bucks extra on the price tag.

Orlando5: I'd pay the extra money for a Glock, SIG, or Beretta, only after making an honest first-hand evaluation against the XD and finding out that I preferred the features and comfort of, and truly shot better with, one of the other choices.

My HS2000 groups as well as any 9mm handgun I've owned. It groups better than my SIG 225, and as well or slightly better than either of my SIG 239s. It absolutely smoked my S&W 6906 (since sold) and likewise my Kahr P9 (also sold). It's dead-nuts even with my CZ-PCR Compact, and is only exceeded in accuracy by my CZ75B --- after 25yds.

It is very robustly built, it is superbly reliable --- not a single failure in over 6,000 rounds, it is exceptionally comfortable --- second only to my SIG 225, it is quite accurate, it has a higher number of safeties than most pistols --- while still maintaining an "always ready" status, and it is now backed by a major manufacturer.

My personal experience, as well as the experience of many HS2000 owner's (a good number of whom also own or have owned pistols manufactured by the Big Name guys), suggests that it would be wise to include the Springfield XD on the list of quality handgun choices. Who knows, it just might save you a hundred bucks or more... ;)

Take care. Marko

Gusgus: I got an e-mail note from Kim C at Springfield stating "...We now also have the XD-40 Pistol available as well. The XD-357 Sig will be coming hopefully by summer..."

Like you, I'm anxious to get my hands on a .357sig version. In the mean time, I'll have to be content trying out a .40s&w.

Take care,
Marko

Darn Marko,
I can't wait till summer! :( Oh well, at least now I know not to hold on to one of my permits (good for 90 days) for it. Best pickup a .40 for now. Should be a good companion to my .40 P-99. I wonder which of the two will prove most accurate? :)
