HS 2000 Great!

Just got in one of the new HS2000 9mm pistols that were wrote up in Combat Handguns.

It not only looks good and shoots good,it is great!

We tested it yesterday and today,put around 700 rounds through it. Not a glich,hiccup,and no dreaded "breaking in" period.

As these are imports from Croatia,we figured the finish would not be as nice as some of the more popular pistols. We were wrong. The fit and finish is great. The slide,frame,and barrel are all serial numbered. The sights are steel,the trigger is steel,and does not have the gushy pull of a Glock. The pull is nice and crisp. It comes with 2 stainless steel 10 round mags,has two loaded chamber indicators,and has an ambi mag release.

Now what we like the best. The grip safety. We know many are concerned about the lack of a manual safety on some pistols. This pistol will not fire unless the grip safety is depressed. Also,the slide will not retract unless the grip safety is depressed,so if you holster the pistol and dont depress the grip safety,the slide wont retract like some models do. Very nice feature.

It fits the hand great,and accuracy was what you would expect from the higher end pistols. Somebody really did their homework here. I usually dont get too jazzed up about new pistols,but this thing is worth taking a look at. Also,the price tag is 30% to 50% less than the Sigs,Berettas,H&k,Glock, and so on.

They dont have a suggested retail I could find. We sell them for $429.00,new in the box. They are worth checking out.

I dont have pictures yet,but if you pick up the latest combat handguns it has a picture of it on the cover and an article on the gun also.

That is what a new Glock cost in Knoxville TN. I looked at one of these pistols the other day and it is not in the same league as Glock, SIG, etc... as far as fit and finish goes. If I remember correctly the HS200 at my shop was ~$325.
 
If it's as good as you say in the $3-400 dollar range, I'm intrigued. To be honest I wouldn't mind replacing the Glock (if it ever appears) for something with more active safeties. A grip safety would be great for a beginner like me, I think--I could basically treat it like a Glock or a revolver, with an added measure of redundancy to help deflect the lethality of any newbie screwups.
OTOH, the only way I can think of to ND a Glock is to pull the trigger, and if you use a holster that covers the trigger that means it would have to be in your hand, like reholstering with your finger on the trigger--which would mean the grip safety would probably be depressed.....
 
I saw a HS2000 at a show in Charlotte NC over the weekend. It looked like a nice gun, though I'm not sure I like the grip safety on this gun. It was selling for $379.00.
