How's this for silent?

I've seen an earlier version of this technology (specially supressed cartridges combined with supressed pistols developed by the russians for the ultimate in silence) but I hadn't seen the exact pistol they showed here.

It sure is quiet, but with that little velocity you'd have to be pretty close to take someone out (not that handguns are long range weapons to begin with, but you know what I mean). The bullet probably also drops quite fiercely beyond about 50 yards, though that's likely beyond the effective range of this gun anyway.

As I recall the ammunition is pricey - combined with the relatively large size of this pistol and it's low capacity, I doubt we'll see these in the hands of many, if any, of the russian military.

It sure is cool, though.

From what I read it is in use by the Russian intelligence agencies and Spetsnaz. Apparently it and its ammo have been kept away from western hands as well.

pretty cool. Ever see the video of their under water assault rifle?

The Russians have some pretty cool firearms. Makes me wonder what stuff the CIA has developed that they won't talk about.
