How's this for a SHTF shotgun

It's the Mossberg 590A1 with marinecote and 18.5" barrel. I handled one at the gunstore and this is one handy, sturdy, and rust-resistant gun.

Not bad- I have a 590 Special Purpose (same thing, but not marinecoted)
and I love it. If you want an even badder one, look at a 590A1. That thing's a tank.
But I went to the shop yesterday, and they had an FN Self-loading police Mark I. now THAT's a beast of a gun :D

Gonna move onto a sailboat for TEOTWAWKI, huh? :D

lpl (who shouldn't be talking, having just bought a used 590 9-shot MarineCote... not moving onto a boat either, but it was too good a deal to pass up for $240)

Mossbergs are a lot of gun for the money.

The 590 can be a real comfort when things go bump in the night.

The big reason I do not have at least one is these 870 "Chops" developed over the last 50 years.

That is one of the two guns the guys here use when they run to the Bahamas fishing. The other of course is a stainless 870. On general principals I would choose the 870.

The Mossy would be an excellent choice if you need the rust resistance, otherwise I'd go with something a bit less flashy. I'd for sure take the 590 over an 870 but in reality both are excellent. I'd also consider the Mossy 930SPX.

I have that exact gun. It is great and I water tested it when I sunk my canoe in some slimy backwater part of a lake. It works! Hahaha.

I guess I'm just an old noob cause I had to Google SHTF to figger out what you guys talkin bout. It's not something I hear down at the pub or out at the range. Does it mean "Stuff hits the fan" or a similar phrase?

A Rem. 1100 stoked with 5rds. 2 3/4",#4`s. Smoothbore slug barrel attached. It double`s as my deer hunting shotgun. Now thats a SHTF weapon:D

Here's a few that are available to us up here:
