Hows about those TC Encores?

I am looking at the tc encore pistol in .223, does anyone have any experience with these? I like the idea of getting out when the bow hunters do. Do they recoil heavily? Are they easy to assemble, easy to shoot offhand?

My 15" Encore .223 has almost no recoil because of the weight of the pistol. For this same reason, they are pretty difficult to shoot offhand-- hard to hold steady. Assembly and changing barrels is a "piece-o-cake". If you want to hunt with one of these with a scope mounted, you will need to hunt from a stand or master a portable set of shooting sticks. Offhand past 25 yards is pretty shakey.

I have one in 7mmo8,But my buddys is 223 very little recoil & is a tack driver @ 90yards.Not that easy off hand but off a prop or sticks its a dream.I guess with some pratice you could get pretty good off hand its not that bad. good luck they are alot of fun.

carry a stout hiking staff with you. Use it in your offhand for a rest, standing, kneeling or sitting. You can find 'em for free in the woods.... bench rest solid.

The 223 encore I had shot great but only from a rest, with a scope 2.5/4. not much recoil but not too practicable either. :D

I have a 7-08 Pro Hunter. The recoil of that is like a very hot 44Mag.
The 223 version will be very gentle. I would guess full size 9mm like but maybe not even that bad.
I can shoot 2-3 inches at 40 yards off hand, the gun is capable of much, much better.
I have a quick detach, light weight bipod attached for longer shots.

I have a Contender in .223, not bad at all recoil wise.

You're lucky in that you can get out with that when the "pointy stick" guys start! Wish my state was like that. By the time ammo guys get to the field the deer are 50 miles away.

I have the old fashioned Contender in a 14" 223 barrel. Roars like a cannon and is murder on gophers. No recoil to speak of.

The 44 mag barrel on the other hand, kicks like an army mule.

You got to have one!

I have a .223 contender. Like the others have said, recoil is very managable, but free hand is not really an option if you want to hit anything of any distance.
From a bench rest it is deadly!
