Howell (R&D) Conversion Cylinder Owners ...

Can you please tell me if the firing pins are spring loaded or free floating?

I'm considering ordering one of these conversion cylinders, but after reading a couple reviews, I'm concerned that the firing pins may be inclined to fall back and cause jams the gun if pointed upward (ala free floating).

Sorry that must be sumfin new on the R&D's/Howell conversions...only the Kirst Konvertor like the one in my hand right now is spring loaded that I know of. If the R&D had springs installed they have a tendency to attract more residue from the rounds and probly not work as well as free floatin' firing pins...not enough room nor springs that small bein' strong enough to help any as the design the way it is works well hen the cylinders and frame are fitted proper.
If they make um with a spring set now and it works all the better...but Kenny sells replacement sets of Firin' pins w/ retainers and all for those with a heavy hammer peenin' the FP heads, They can be filed and cleaned up w/o removal.

Not exactly sure what springs in the R&D cylinder buy you. Perhaps someone could expand. While I'm on topic, just out of curiosity where do you buy replacement firing pins for the R&D cylinder?

Here is where you buy replacement firing pins for the Howell cylinder and I
think he will sell you spring loaded pins also. Name is Bill English I think.
