I'm thinking about a varmint weight 223; Ruger Target II or Howa HB. The Howa is about $200.00 cheaper but I'm wondering about the "H.A.C.T." trigger. Can anyone lend insight to how good they are? Pull weight, adjust-ability, etc.

I've shot the Ruger target trigger and it's good imo. The one I shoot is a two stage, just under 2lbs.

If I bought the lower cost Howa (I like Howas and Vanguards) and had to replace the trigger, I wouldn't have saved much of that $200.00.
 
I paid just over 100 bills for a Rifle Basix varmint/target trigger for my Howa that breaks at 3/4 to 1.5 pounds. It was set at the factory at one pound, and I never saw any reason to change it.

I don't know much about the new Howa factory trigger, but will guess that it is better than the old one.
