I own and reload for a Vanguard in 300WBY. Pain $399 for it 2 years ago. Sounds like a decent deal to me. The Howa and Weatherby Vanguard are the same rifle. I was browsing one day looking at rifles and saw three that interested me a 25-06 stainless, synthetic. A 270 Win the same, and the 300 WBY, looking at the target with 300 WBY, .6-.7", and I kinda figured that I wasn't going to get more rifle for the money than this. I think you will be getting all the rifle you want with this one. It doesn't hurt that it is scoped, but at this price you can't really expect too much. I have reloaded for 300 Win Mag, and it is potent enough.

Basically the same rifle as a Weatherby Vanguard,Howa make,s the Vanguard.I bought a Howa in a 300 win mag,syn stock about 2 months ago.It came with a Nikko-Sterling Gold Crown scope. So far I am very pleased with it,s performance. They have been tagged as the Best Bang for the $Buck. So don,t be afraid just because it,s not a household name as far as rifles go.Howa has been making firearms for a long time.If it looks new and not very many rounds through it,it,s worth every bit of the $300 asking price.I bought mine new for $416 tax included.

run, don't walk & buy it. even without a scope it's a good deal. the 300 Win is a very versatile round. especially if you roll your own.

I have a Howa 1500 in 204 Ruger, not the 300, but this is a great rifle. Very accurate, reliable, durable. If your getting a good price buy it now. :)

I own two Howas and they are good solid reliable if slightly heavy rifles. That extra weight isn't a bad thing in a 300WM. You're shoulder will appreciate the extra mass.

I have the exact Howa you speak of. Mine was holding 1.5" groups at 100 yds, shooting winchester XP2 150gn, Definitely worth the money. It easily hangs with my Savage 110.

A Howa printing 1.5" @ 100 yds is NOT acceptable by manufacturer specs. I know someone who had trouble with theirs that was in .300 win mag and they tried explored several reasons for the accuracy issues to get it shooting correctly. They could not determine the issue so they replaced it for him as it was not acceptable to their expectations/specifications.
